I've worked out off and on in the past but never stuck with it until recently. I've been lifting for six months now, which is the longest sustained time ever for me.
I have the type of body where I'm never going to have a V-shape, and I'm really more interested in lifting heavy weights than looking good on the beach.
Right now I'm 4 weeks into an 8 week cycle on the 3x3 program.
http://www.deepsquatter.com/strength/archives/korte.htm
I feel like I'm making progress, but wonder if something else would be better after I finish this 8 week cycle?
I've heard a lot of you recommend the Westside stuff, but when I read it, I don't seem to have the equipment to do it. All I have is free weights, a bench, and a squat rack in my basement. For instance a large part of Westside is doing reverse hypers almost every workout.
Is there a way to adapt this? Should I try something completely different? Stick with the 3x3?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah that would be great. I love how simple the 3x3 is, but simple turns into boring after 8 weeks of the same three exercises.
I'd like to something like this westside routine:
Max Effort SQ and DL
1 max effort exercise
1 exercise for your weak points
Reverse Hypers
Abs
[you will always do reverse hypers and abs, so you only need to figure out the first two exercises]
Speed Squat and Deadlift Day
Box squat
1 exercise for your weak area
Reverse hypers
Abs
[you will always do reverse hypers and abs, so you only need to figure out the first two exercises]
Max Effort Bench
1 max effort exercise
1 or 2 tricep exercise [must always do some kind of extension]
1 delt exercise [ presses sometimes, but mostly rear delts (this is to keep internal/external rotation balance)]
you can also do reverse hypers light and abs
Speed bench
bench press
1 tricep exercise [some kind of extension]
very little delt work [ such as 2 sets side raises]
reverse hypers and abs (light)
The things I would need alternatives for would be. I don't have anything to do reverse hypers on. I don't have a box or chair that would work for box squats. Beyond that the rest seems doable with just free weights. If you have favorite exercises when they ask for various delt/tri/ab exercises it would be a big help.
Or if you were thinking of something totally different, run it by me. I appreciate the help.
Thanks.

Actually, you could do reverse hypers on a roman chair...obviously, you won't have the weight but for starters work on speed....or if you can't do them, then good mornings and normal hypers are fine (weighted ones are better).
As for box squats....If your gym has a step aerobics class, grab one of those platforms or the 'legs' that the platform rests on. I'll grab four of those and a 35lbs plate and use that as a 'box'
Or, just mark where your squat breaks parallel (go down into the hole and mark on a wall somewhere) and make sure you're always going that low when you do speed squats. Keep in mind that you're not going to be using super heavy weights on your speed squats so getting down below parallel shouldn't be too bad. Although, some sort of box is always a good thing!

power_just
Yeah I'll give it a shot. I just started the 5th week of the 3x3, 8 week program. So I'll be looking to try something new in four weeks.
BMF, on the first week of low volume technique work of the 3x3 program, did it seem incredibly too easy? I just finished working out and I didn't even break a sweat.

Carl- you can modify a Ws program for yourself. Pick your own exercises, but stick with the basic concept of Max Effort and Dynamic Effort. I don't have bands or chains or something to do reverse hypers etc. As far as a box, just buy some 2x4's and plywood and make your own boxes. You can make a couple at various heigths just for yourself.
