    And then there was . . . OAT BRAN <vs. Oatmeal>

Why doesn't everyone recommend Oat Bran instead of Oatmeal?
Just looking at the back of the package, Oat Bran has more Fiber <less carbs> and more protein. The vitamins/minerals are also much more abundant.

The only ingredient in Oat Bran is <Oat Bran>
The only ingredient in Oatmeal is <Whole Grain Quaker Oats>

Is that why oatmeal is better? b/c it reads: <Whole Grain...>

    Thumbs up oat bran

I love oat bran. I've been using oat bran instead of oatmeal for all my meals with the exception of post workout. I love how it has more fiber/protein and really fills you up much more than oatmeal. Oatbran lets me eat more without going over I like it

The oatbran/meal debate has been done many times in this forum.
In fact, you can always tell in my house if I'm cutting or bulking. If I'm cutting, there's oatbran in the cupboard. Bulking, oatmeal. I just find oatbran more filling.

well around here oat bran is considerably more expensive than oatmeal - i can get a 42 oz container of oats for $1.49 but the same size of oatbran would be around $3.50 - for that price difference the nutritional advantage isn't that much so i just stick with good ole oatmeal

oat bran is a wonderful addition to any diet and is a suitable replacement for oatmeal. there are a few setbacks that i have with oat bran. one is the price. the kind that i kind find in stores is quaker oat bran which cost about $3.00, i can get a 2lb container of oats for $2.00. secondly, although its filling, it doesnt fill me up as well as oats do. and i eat oat bran faster because its just mush, there isnt enough texture to it to make me appreciate what im consuming.

Bump to this, I've been eating oats every day forever, and tonight I tried some oat bran instead. Can't say that it tastes better or worse, but it is a welcome change from the oats. Great w/some sugar-free syrup on top.

Wheat bran + Oatmeal is the way I go.

Wheat bran is packed packed packed with fibre and soaks up excess water from the oats to make it creamy. Very good for you.

yeah, i do this too. it doesnt necessarily soak the water up for me because my oats are real thick because i cook my eggs in with them, but it certainly does give it a nice texture that is different from oats alone.

so would 1/2 cup oats and 1/2 cup wheat bran be good for pre workout meal, along with whey?
