Velocity Diet Questions! Ask them here, I'll try to respond asap.
Are answered:
For the address to the actual diet first read this:
http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=546491
Read that, then read this revised link:
http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=563877
More important things of note:
Calories
First I need to decide how many calories to consume per day. I may adjust this number as I go along, but I need to have a place to start. I know for sure I want to get more than 1300 calories per day.
Here's how I'll get my starting numbers. First plug total bodyweight into this equation:
(10.2 x bodyweight + 879) x .50 = _____
Now do it again with this equation:
(10.2 x bodyweight + 879) x .60 = _____ (Only the .60 is different.)
So, let's say a guy weighs 193 pounds and wants to see what his physique would look like at a ridiculously shredded 180:
(10.2 x 193 + 879) x .50 = 1424 calories
(10.2 x 193 + 879) x .60 = 1709 calories
Now, let's round those numbers to the nearest hundred for the sake of simplicity: 1400 and 1700. What our sample guy has now is the absolute minimal and maximal amount of calories he's going to consume while on the Velocity Diet.
My plan is to get close to the first number on non-training days and close to the second number on training days, but as long as I don't fall above or below this range I think I'll do fine.
Protein
I'll consume, at the very least, one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, most likely more, but not so much that I exceed my upper calorie limit.
Carbs
I'll consume more carbs on weight training days and less on non-weight-training days, but I'll never exceed 100 grams per day.
Fat
I'll get my healthy fats from flax and fish oil and not sweat the details.

Diet by Day outline
Tuesday / Thursday / Sunday
5 Low-Carb Grow! shakes made with ice cold water, spread evenly throughout the day I used ON 100% Casein so you don't need to use Biotest products
4 servings of milled flax seeds, added evenly over several shakes
21 salmon oil capsules I used Fish Oil
Monday / Wednesday / Friday
5 Low-Carb Grow! shakes, spread evenly throughout the day
4 servings of milled flax seeds, added evenly over several shakes
1 serving of Surge after weight workouts. (Half can also be sipped throughout the workout, with the other half slammed right after.)
No salmon capsules on this day.
Saturday
1-2 servings of old fashioned oatmeal with 1-2 servings of blueberries.
3-4 Low-Carb Grow! shakes, spread evenly throughout the day.

So, is it more beneficial for a BLEND (matrix, add whey+casein in your own, etc) or just straight up casein?

Blend will always be far superior no mater what you do.
The blend will allow whey to be absorbed right away and the casein be gradually feeding your body.
As for Matrix 5.0, I think you know my feelings on Syntrax and their false claims. Someone did a study on Matrix 5.0 and the Casein amount was around 25-30% as compared to ON Which is a casein mixture.

So, are you just starting this or have you already done a course beforehand? Was wondering how significant the results are compared to the somewhat unorthodox nature of the diet.

I've done three different runs.
Run one: Made it 28 days using overpriced Biotest products.
Run two: Made is 12 days using only a whey only.
Run three: Used ON 100% Casein with Isopure and it went by like cake.

Nice, 3 "V Diets" in a year...how much space between each one?
Ps, this should be pinned in one of those diet stickies.

Good Thread, -Aaron-!
This is turning into the V-diet Forum..... Half of the new threads and logs are V-diet..... Hopefully this will cut down the questions.
V-diet definitely works and is definitely frickin hard to stick to. I respect anyone who makes it 28 days. Not for the weak, that is for sure. I should do it again, but I don't want to.....
Have a good one.

Amy recommendations on the most affordable, yet effective casein protein to use for this? Whey is fairly cheap to get, casein is not(anywhere I have looked so far).

Casein, a good quality Casein anyway, won't be cheap. I used ON 100% Casein and the days flew by, so did the six two pound tubs I had.

I went through two four pound tubs of ON 100% Casein, which you can get at the BB.com store. You would need around five tubs of Low-Carb Grow.

Anyway, thanks for the answer and the thread itself...no doubt I'll be back with more questions throughout the course. hope thats cool.

Hey, I'm 380lbs and according to Velocity Diet I should be eating between 2400-2900 calories. Do i just need to make bigger shakes or is it possible to get more calories into the shake by using milk or adding oats?
The article says don't eat more than 100g carbs, but 100g carbs is 25% on a 1400 calorie diet. Since I'm at 2400, does that mean its fine for my carbs to go as high as 170g?
How does this diet do in the long run? Is it possible to stay on it for extended periods of time if I am doing fine on it(not losing energy, mentally stable lol)?
I'm thinking about a scoop of ON Casein and a scoop of ON Whey for eat shake as well as 2 tbs flax seed which adds to about 300 calories. If I make each of the 5 shakes with skim milk, they will each be about 400 calories, and have an additional 8g of casein, but will have another 11 carbs.
I plan on 15-20g of fish capsules a day as well as a MV. This totals to 2200 calories a day. Should I add a 6th shake with milk, or have 8 non milk shakes?
My main concern is how does this diet translate into larger weight groups such as myself.
edit* I really am attracted to this diet because it seems very simple, and I'm pretty sure I can handle it. I've had trouble on diets before because I hate cooking food and getting it together. If milk is not an option, putting in 8 shakes into my school lifestyle is going to be difficult...

I liked the ON 100% Casein Creamy Vanilla. It is the most economical when you consider that it is 100% Casein and you can make you own blend. A lot of the Micellar Casein blends are only sold in like 2 lb containers or less and they are just way expensive.
I may have missed it and if I did I apologize, how long do you think you should wait between runs on the V-Diet?? It is something that definitely I would want to give another shot to before summertime.

No, do not add oats to the shake. This is essentially a low carb diet and that would be defeating the purpose. You can on your one day refeed.

No, this is basically allowing for your post-workout drink which should contain carbs. Try not to exceed 100 carbs per day. If you have to, then make 150 a maximum.

I've heard of people lasting three months on it, but that can get pricey. I've yet to see any long term problems with long term use. Shugart recommended 28 days because any longer two things would happen:
1) You may stall and he is covering his ass.
2) People will have tough time with 28 days, let alone any longer.

No skim milk or any milk. That's a big no no. If you have to, add another scoop of casein or flax.

Again, perfect on the amount of fish oil, but drop the milk as it makes this diet redundant.

Believe it or not, this diet will allow you to regain control of your lifestyle. I mean, you will be able to control what you eat and what types of food you eat. You will regain your initial water/glucogen loss, but that will be it if you maintain self control.

That's exactly why it's such a good diet. The ease of it, along with the simplicity of it.

No, get a pure casein or casein blend.

I would wait a minimum of two months before trying to do it again. Of course, this contradicts my original statement posted above, but it's truly up to you. I've heard of people making it three months without any problems.

BB.com price matches. Use froogle then call bb.com to have them price match.
As for working out; I worked out every single day during the diet, it's totally fine. The "rest" day is over emphasized in the bodybuilding community, simply because everyone believes the muscles need recovery. In theory, this is true, but it's only true reason is for your CNS (Central Nervous System) to recover. With a strong will power and the thermogenic you should be using, that will make it non-existent.
P.S. I'll be viewing this thread more often so keep the questions coming.

I do, but have a lot of excess skin. Although, it's filling out quite nicely.
I'll post some soon.
