I'm listening to Howard Stern right now and as they were coming back from commercial break they played Britney's new song, "Gimme More" (currently the #1 song in the county). As the song was ending Howard and Robin started to talk about Britney's personal life and Artie jokingly interjected: "Give me a second, I'm trying to figure out whether I should bump 'Thunder Road' or 'Stairway to Heaven' to make room for 'Gimme More' in my top ten."
Which has led me to question -- what was the last great song released? And when I say great, I mean a song that people will be listening to generations from now.
Of course, you never know how history will treat any song, but rational projections are possible...
