yoghurt and cheese

Hi ladies,

I have recently moved to Canada for university and I have had some changes to my routine...anyway, I have started eating very large quantities of dairy, like up to 400 - 500gms (of yoghurt and cottage cheese) per day. I am insulin resistant so am very careful with sugars (and everything I eat generally)
Is there anything wrong with eating so much cheese and yoghurt?

lactose is a slow-digesting sugar.

if you use unsweetened, natural yoghurt it has ca. 3 grams of sugar and cottage cheese can range from 0 to 4-5 grams.

if you eat them in small quantities throughout the day the net amount of carbohydrate - a few grams - eaten at a time probably won't make much of an impact. but it depends on overall diet too. what else do you eat?

I generally eat well, my meal structure looks like this:

Breakkie is 50g oats and 8 egg whites or a shake

lunch is salad with either chicken or tuna and flaxoil dressing

dinner 150-200g chicken or fish and mixed vegies

so I will mix together 100g ff plain yoghurt and 100g 1% cottage cheese and have it between my main meals

I will also have an apple or about 15 nuts when feeling peckish.

As I said this is the structre, it varies and there is usually more food by the end of the day.

So is 200g of dairy a good serving size or should I have less at a time?
