Post Pregnancy Weight Loss
This is a new thread I'm starting because of my frustration. during my 1st pregnancy I gained 50lbs. I lost 40 and got pregnant again, gained another 50 (I had big babies 8lbs & 9lbs...I think if I had a 3rd it will be 10lbs). I was careful to track what it is I did to lose the weight the first time and followed it the second time (meals and exercise routines), but with little success (only 20lbs). My question here is are there any other women out there who have had the same experience? Was it easy to lose the weight after the first pregnancy, but not the subsequent ones?

OH do I know! And remember you are not alone.
OH girl do I know how your story goes. Lets recap my situation shall we.....
worked out constantly, pretty happy with my body, start dating this guy july 2004, get pregnant 3 months later, find out 3 months later (jan 05), get married 3 months later.....guess what is next.....have a baby 3 months later (july 05). WOW you say....well yes I had gained at that point 55 lbs......it gets better....my beautiful baby girl was one month old and the big K hit...yes from NOLA. Katrina rocked my world upside down. My grandmother died that week (no not bc the storm) and we moved from NOLA to Addison (dallas TX) for 4 months in a hotel. We move back to NOLA in NOV 05. YUCK! Move home and guess what ....6 months later (2006) and only a 20 lb loss from baby #1!!!!! I get prego again when she is only 10 months old. We look for housing and cant find anything. So mom and dad offer me the house I grew up in and they were going to move and settle in HOUSTON. well guess what, I gained up to that point another 30 lbs.....the day we move into this great home...my mom goes into the hospital and 42 days later at 57 years old she passes away from a blood infection in Houston. Then 2 weeks after that my lil baby boy was born in Feb 2007. So hear we are right....my head is above the water and in order for me to live a wonderful healthy life for my two beauties and my husband....I have to get with it. No I havent lost a lb in 15 months. And yes both my lil ones were both exactly 8 lbs 10 oz. 21 in. Weird huh?
Anyway, for those mommys who want to be yummy again or just to become yummy for the first time. We can do this but guess what we have to be organized and now if I can do it with all this behind me....ANYONE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ABP

Oh, yeah!!!! I gained about 50 pounds with my first and lost most of it before I was even off maternity leave. With the second (who is now 3 1/2), I gained about 25 and am still trying to get it off. I thought it would melt off like it did for the first one without a lot of effort. I finally got tired of it and started training and am finally about down to where I was before. Oh, and my 1st was 8 lbs 8 oz and the second 9 lbs 6 oz.

I stupidly gained 60 lbs w/my first and had a hell of a time taking the weight off. I am still not the weight/size I was pre preggo, but my BF is lower. It took me 3 years to get this far. I believe mine took so long, b/c I had really done a # on my metabolism by not eating enough. You can do it! Just be sure to eat enough calories to lose 1 to 2 lbs per week.

I've read that women who breastfeed lose more easily.

Not if you're not eating enough. I breast fed and hardly lost any weight while doing it, b/c I was under eating.

Been there, done that. I bouced back so fast after my first pregnancy that within a week, you'd never know I'd had a baby, but I'm actually scared to tell people what I weighed at the end of my second pregnancy! And I still hide all those pictures of me.
After my third baby, I switched to a low carb diet, without counting calories, just ate to hunger (breastfeeding, so very hungry!) and lost 45lb over 6 months without any major trauma.

After my first pregnancy I walked out of the hospital smaller than I was before I got pregnant 110. About a month before I got pregnant with my second I went through cortisone shots for my hip bursitis, and instantly gained 20 pounds in a matter of 3 weeks!. Then another 50 with my second pregnancy. I didn't loose but 28 after having my second. And was at 150lbs ish which I thought at the time was good. Then I got pregnant just as I was noticing some real improvements in my muscle tone. And gained another 45 lbs. I breastfed all of my kids and breastfed my daughter for 9 and a half months, and only was able to loose the weight from her. It seems once I get to the 150 pound marker, I am stuck.
