I'm not sure if this is an old thread or not, but anyways.
Are there any musicians out there?
I mean, I know almost everyone listens to something while we're pounding away on iron, but does anyone hear play or create music?
I've been playing guitar for about 5-6 years now. I just started getting back into it about 1 month ago. I took about 1 year off because of school and lifting. I found that my arms got too sore/tired to play properly for an extended period of time. But the passion of playing and creating music is back in my system.
I play mostly progressive material; mostly progressive metal. The type of music I listen to include progressive metal/rock, various other metals, classical, new age, and experimental.
The gear I play includes 2 Ibanez RG7620's (well, one is coming in). I had an RG7321 loaded with dual EMG707's, but I sold it to my bandmate. I run it through a line 6 podxt live and a Spider II amp. Budget set up, heh.
I've never gotten around to learning music theory.. so I'm starting to do that now. LOL, very sad.
So please, all the other ripped/thick/buff/gorgeous (this term is for the ladies) musicians out there, share your stories.
This might turn out to be an interesting thread. Who knows, we could share our sound clips and stuff too!
P.S. I recently got into Devin Townsend. Awesome stuff!!! I really recommend the Terria album.

What kind of stuff do you play?
My band and I are trying to find a bassist.
It's hard.. lol.
We're saying that maybe one of the guitarists should just "downgrade" to bass.30 Day Fitness Challenge

I'm a composer. I've got nine operas completed, two of which have been performed, and two more will be added this year. I sing and run my own opera company. All that and bbing too!

Thanks. I wish they'd be performed, but in their current state, they are unperformable. Reason being that the librettist opted to not finish them, and I can't do the work myself, so there they sit, never to be heard. The thing I like least about the treadmill is that I can't run from my farts. -- Source unknown

:O!!!!
Female guitarist, with experience and crazy gear, who happens to bodybuild?
You girl, are the awesomes.
Your blue + pink strats remind me of Lori Linstruth. Do you know her? She is awesome.
PODxt Live rules. I'm planning on upgrading to the Vetta II setup when I have the cash..
P.S. I'm fan of Nightwish as well.
Question for you.
Tarja vs. Anette
Opinion?
Edit:
Now that I've seen pics.. there are the exact same models.
Did you buy hers? Cause she was selling them away a while ago.30 Day Fitness Challenge

Hi there...good to meet you! You have great taste in music! Yes, I know Lori very well, but no those are not her guitars. We just happen to have the same model and color. It's a shame she is selling her because those guitars are synonymous with her style. I was very sorry to see her leave Stream of Passion....she's immensely talented. I think I had HM Strats before she did though!
Hmmm...Tarja vs Anette? Difficult question! I think Anette is doing a very fine job considering all the pressure, and Dark Passion Play is a work of art, but at the end of the day Tarja was special, and you can't beat Once can you? She had an aura and it's a shame she's not with them anymore. Actually, my guitarist and singer just met all of Nightwish last week in New York. They got me an autograph from Marco!
PODxt Live is simply amazing. The new POD X3 is supposed to be incredible too, and you can use it for more than one instrument at a time but I'm happy with mine. I downloaded the bass pack so I can use it for both bass and guitar. Now that's value for money!
What other bands are you into? Have you heard Kamelot or Firewind yet? You should check them out on MySpace. If you like Nightwish you'll love them!If you train like an athlete, eat like an athlete, and think like an athlete, eventually you will start looking like an athlete.

I haven't heard of Firewind, but yes, I do know Kamelot.
Their new Ghost Opera album is really good.
My first time listening to it, I was kinda "meh".
But the second + third time, the songs blew me away (I'm like that sometimes..)
I think the song that stood out to me the most was "Love You To Death" and "Anthem".
Have you heard of the band "Epica"? Simone Simons is one of my favourite female singers. The backup singer for their "Two Meter Sessies" live album did vocals in Ghost Opera (she has a really pretty voice).
Congrats on the autograph from Marco! He's an amazing singer don't you think? I'm sure all Nightwish fans would agree.
I can tell you're really into the symphonic metal stuff . Are you into prog. music at all? I'm all about the prog .
As for the strats, I guess Lori copied you then..
Since you mentioned Stream of Passion.. I'm sure you know Arjen A. Lucassen.. Fan?
In my opinion, he is one of the most talented people ever! :O
That is.. until my recent discovery of Devin Townsend (Terria!!!).
(I always knew about Devy, but I never listened to his stuff)
Yea, the POD X3 is amazing stuff. I want the dual amp feature for the XT live !!30 Day Fitness Challenge

Welcome man!
I just.. do it. I don't know.
I don't really have much of a social life anyways, so I guess I have more time.
I noticed that since I joined my band, my BB'ing as suffered a tad (well a bit more then that). Like wise for music.
I took a year off music so I could focus on BB'ing.
I guess I'm still trying to find my happy medium.
But its fun trying.30 Day Fitness Challenge

You can find a way to have your music and bbing too. I certainly have. Then again, I haven't got a job so that may have something to do with it.
