yea their strong compared to their body, and they can do things that barely anybody can, but to even compare them to a powerlifter is just wrong. its obvious that they train specifically to do this kind of stuff

You might REALLY be surprised.. it's not just their muscle. Their tendons and ligaments are also used to ridiculous amounts of stress.

Actually, they are amazingly strong too. I couldn't point you to the study, but one was done where they tested like, little gymnast boys (no homo) doing weighted pullups (which they never did) and they ended up doing an incredible amount of weight.
Not only do they have endurance, but incredible strength.

PLUS, they don't use weights as part of their normal workouts. All bodyweight exercises.

Check this article out:
T-Nation: That's impressive. I've heard stories that these athletes can lift a surprising amount of weight in the deadlift and other lifts, even though they never train these lifts. Is that true? And if it is, how's that possible?
One of my student?s, JJ Gregory, far exceeded my own modest accomplishments. On his first day of high school weight lifting, JJ pulled a nearly triple bodyweight deadlift with 400 pounds at a bodyweight of 135 ...

they are stronger than you think. There was a guy who tested a lot of gymnasts and found them stronger than weight lifters who have been training the same amount of time, even though they only use body weight and for a lot of training hold certain positions.

...what the fuck was that guy doing sideways on that pole? Lateral pullups? Holy ****...I can't even imagine how strong you would have to be to do that. And that stuff at the end on that rope? My gods, I would have at least dislocated my arm.
*note to self: don't screw with a gymnast, he will fuck you up*

Incorrect last statement. He has strength. That does not correlate to fighting ability. I would like to see a gymnast take out even a C- level mixed martial arts fighter or brazillian jujitsu practitioner.
However, their athletic ability should be commended, and their discipline certainly pays off. I want a gymnast wife. Imagine the sex positions?

Yeah but take a guy with strength like that and train him in MMA **** it almost makes me want to stop lifting heavy and do bw lifts for MMA.

I would still not want one of those guys to get his hands on me, because I'm pretty sure if he did it wouldn't go in my favor. LOL
Imagine how good one of these guys could be with submission holds on the ground? If he were properly trained he would be unstoppable.

Did they match the total weight being pulled by someone bigger who does pullups?
I'm not saying they're not strong, they're obviously strong, I'm just curious.

There are different kinds of strength; limit(absolute) strength, maximal strength, speed strength, explosive strength, anaerobic strength endurace.
You can't compare olympic lifters, powerlifters, and gymnasts to see which would have greater "strength" because each trains specifically to certain skill movements, which utilizes different strength qualities.

I was in gymnastics for 9 years. I trained 5 days a week for 3 hours a day straight for those 9 years. I could do all those things in those videos when I was training. Its not as hard as it looks, a lot of it is balancing your bodyweight and using your arms to lock out. Not to take anything away from it though, I can't do any of it now.
