Does USPS Express mail require a signature?

Just wondering. I thought I have used Express before and didn't have to sign for it. Now I have a card in my mail box asking for my sig to deliver it or to have me come in to the Post Office to pick it up. Is this normal? I definately do not want to sign for it if it's not.

Will the post office require ID to pick up the package? Lets just say I have a roomate whose not in town right now, would I be able to accept his package?

As far as I know, they left that because you were not there. If you sign it and leave it, then they will accept that signature as permission to leave your package on the next delivery attempt. Or, you can show up with the little card (is it orange?) and pick up your package at the post office.

I'm not a mailman, so I'm not completely sure, but I used to be a courier and dealt with the post office quite a bit. Some of my clients got those cards and they could either sign them and wait until the next delivery attempt, or I would just run it to the post office and pick it up.

If Express is the same as Registered then yes you have to sign for it. I don't know about the ID and the pick up though.. but I would most likely think that the parcel cant only be picked up from the person themselves.

    What's the problem?

Go to the post office. Tell them who you are...they'll give you your package and you'll be done. This happened to me with IBE X-Dream...no ID required.

All it requires is "a signature" for delivery. Express mail has a guaranteed delivery so they need a sig to prove it was delivered. Our receptionist signs for my packages.
