Couple of Bulking Questions
I am going to be switching from a Keto cut to Keto bulk next week, have a few questions for you all:
1. I plan to increase my calories to 500+ maintenance (slowly), is that correct?
2. On a cut I was carb'ing up every fortnight, on a bulk I assume I should carb-up every week?
3. What about cardio on a bulk, should I cut out my 2 days of HIIT training until I get back on the cut?
4. On the cut, my protein intake was approx. 1gm/1lb of lbm, should I increase that to 1.5-2gm for the bulk?
5. I am also planning on going the German Volume Training route for 6 weeks, any recommendation or personal experiences? Hey Cailin Deas (Eileen) I read on an old post that you tried it, how did it work out? how were your gains?
I started Keto in the middle of june, I was nearly 20% BF, currently I stand at close to 13%. I want to bulk until February and then get back on the cut in March to get ready for t-shirt season again.

1. I'd say it's a personal preference on your style of bulk- clean, slower gains or faster, not so clean gains. that's probably good for the beginning
2. carb-up twice a week; one grand carbup and one spike mid-week.
3. i would do hiit to get back into ketosis after your carbups
4. yeah, do 1.5-2 to be safe
5. can't help ya
Best of luck. I couldn't eat so many calories from the foods available to me when I tried keto bulking.

personally having done a bulk, i did it differently, and it werked for me
1. i just ate as much as i could fit im my stomach, and i still dropped from 24-14% (but im an ecto)
2. i found that TKD werked very well for my bulking....insulin spikes around werkouts....anabolic hormone and all
3. fitness, cardio vascular health and metabolism are all important wen bulking, thus so is continuing to do cardio. id say u dont do less than twice a week
4. i was eating 2gms. dont be afraid to raise ur protein higher than ur fat
5. if it works on carbs it works on keto. personally i was doing HST and it werked very well. now im on a 2 day split which i do 2-3 times a week, depending on my schedule, and im gaining on that too (even tho im cutting and my body fat % is falling). honestly u can do what u like

1. It'll work fine. Slow but fine.
2. Carb up once a week + 30gr carb with whey around wrokouts. After workouts, you could eat 1 meal with some moderate amount of carbs.
3. You could cut it back, but I wouldn't cut it out.
4. Yes, increase that to 1.5-2gm for the bulk.
5. GVT...UGH. Some people like it but many find they lose strength over time while using it. Also, it doesn't really stimulate much real muscle growth, i.e. contractile proteins. Gains from high volume programs tend to be alot of sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. It's good to integrate it, but you also want lower volume higher weight training too.

In response to Question 1, almost everyone seems to suggest that the gains will be slow with an increase of 500 above maintenance. Should I increase calories >500 to amplify the gains?
By the way, thanks al ot to everyone who has responded so far.

i read only one that said it would be slow indefinately. see what werks for u. start at 500 and eat more if u gain no fat, less if u do gain fat and dont want too. it really is a trial and error thing
