Stephanie's journal
I am fairly new to Bodyspace and Bodybuilding.com, I get on here but mainly just look around and try to learn new things about dieting/working out and also learn from more experienced people. I wanted to start a journal to keep myself on track and to get any advice that anyone has, it will be greatly appreciated! My story is that I set foot in a gym in 2002 and havent really been that serious about it...until now. Im tired of losing weight to gain it back and then lose and then gain, not a very good cycle. Think I want to enter a figure or Hawaiin Tropic contest next year, just the fact of entering something and bringing forth your best to try to win is what is going to drive me. OK enough rambling here are my current stats:
Age: 22
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 162lbs
Goal: lose bodyfat, be comfortable in my own body
Not sure of my bf% but I am going to try to find someone that can take that measurement for me. I think my gym will do that. I took some measurements and I think I did them wrong, I watched the videos of how to take them so I will post it them when I post my training and diet.
Oh and by the way...I love lifting but HATE cardio! I also dont have down my macronutrient intake % or anything, I just eat what my bf says that is okay to eat. (he is also the person that weight trains me!) IM A MESS!
Im super excited about this. I have already started eating clean except one day a week I have a cheat MEAL, the day of the week I mostly look forward to.
So I will post my measurements and workouts and my "diet" tomorrow after my cardio and weight session.
IM READY!

Hey, good luck with your progress! These boards are an incredibly valuable resource - I've learned so much since I started my journal here. I'm sure you'll find the people really helpful.
Welcome!!

Okay, so today im starting to log my stuff...I have a problem with procrastination!
My days are kinda weird considering I sleep during the day and am awake at night. I am currently a security guard(stationed at a desk for 8 hours looking at cameras!)and my work schedule is a bit weird, I am off on Monday and Wednesday nights, my hours are 10pm-6am. I dont really have a set pattern(that I notice) of when I sleep, sometimes I sleep when I get home in the morning but sometimes I sleep in the afternoon, depends on what I have to do and when my bf wants to go to the gym. My boyfriend trains me(weight wise) so I follow him around and do whatever he does(not weight#s). The reason we have to go to the gym at the same time is that I have a"VIP membership" and I can bring anyone with me to the gym for free but they have to be with me. We have a pretty nice gym in our house but we rarely use it because most is free weights and we do a mix of machine and free weights. So with that said, im going to log my food for today:
9:30pm- I consider this my "morning" today since I slept in the afternoon, upon waking(was in a hurry, but try to get as much sleep as I can) I had:
1 Kashi cookie(oatmeal, dark chocolate) w/1 Tbsp natl pb(220cal/13fat/24carb/5.5pro)I know it needs more protein but was in a hurry
In between I had 1 can(12oz.) Diet Sunkist(bad,I know)
12:30am-(2)Carb Balance WW tortillas w/1 svg chicken breast and 1 svg ff ranch(290cal/6.5fat/16carb/27pro)
3:30am-1 scoop Zero-Carb IsoPure Strawberry(eww)in water, with 2 cups romaine lettuce with 20 sprays Caesar dressing and 1 piece extra dark chocolate with coffee bits
(220cal/7fat/8.5carb/28pro)
6:00am- CARDIO TIME!!! 1 hour on the elliptical...lotsa sweat!
7:45am-traffic sucks!-1 scoop Zero-Carb IsoPure in water, 2 slices Ezekiel 4:9 with 1/2 svg natl pb(255cal/9.5fat/33carb/36.5pro)
Went to sleep from 9am-5:30pm-weighed myself when I woke up...159.4!Not much but its something
6:00pm-1 can tuna(in water of course) with 2 svg. Dijonnaise, and Kashi cookie(think im addicted!)(265cal/7.5fat/23carb/29.5pro)
9:00pm-going to gym at 10pm so this one will be a BIG meal!-2 slices Ezekiel bread, 3 pieces turkey bacon, 2egg whites and 1 whole egg(337cal/11.5fat/31carb/26pro)
Totals- 1587calories
55g fat
135.5g carbs
182g protein
I will write my workout when I get back! ITS LEG DAY!!!!!!

That's great that your boyfriend goes to the gym with you - it's always nice to have someone there to work out with. The VIP membership...that's a pretty nice arrangement! I wish my gym would offer something like that!
I've never tried the Kashi cookies... they sound really good though! Are you planning on logging your workouts at all? It would be cool to see what kind of stuff you're doing.
Have a great weekend!

Hectic
Im going to post my workout as soon as I remember to get my workout paper from my workout bag and bring it to work because other than work i dont have much freetime because of cooking, cardio, weight lifting, cooking my food (and my bf's), cleaning and trying to sleep. Having a healthy lifestyle keeps you busy, plus im starting school in January! Ahhh...im gonna go crazy!
Oh, I have been doing cardio on the elliptical, rotating one day 45 minutes, one day 1 hour and then repeating 5 times a week. May add more cardio later but for now it'll have to do. I REALLY need to invest in a piece of cardio equipment for my house(all I have is free weights) so I dont have to keep running to the gym to do it!
You should try the cookies, they are addicting though, I need to stop buying them! And yea, its good to have my boyfriend, after all he got me into it, so the days i dont feel up to it he reminds me how much better I'll feel after im done! And when we finish, I tell him what every man likes to hear..."YOU ARE RIGHT!"

I agree, living a healthy lifestyle CAN take up a lot of time! But it's totally worth it in the end
If I were you I wouldn't add any more cardio... if you're doing weights a few times a week in addition to cardio 5x, that's more than enough! I used to do SO much cardio until I got some advice (from these boards!) to tone it down a bit, and it's actually worked out great.
Mmm Kashi crackers... I suppose they have a whole line of products that I've never tried!

Workouts
My last workout was upper body, I know Im not very consistant with my journaling and hopefully i will get better, i am eating the same as I did in the first entry, without so many Kashi cookies. So with that said, this is my last workout: We just started changing out workouts, so my weight and #s are LOW, we started doing the exercises SLOW and CONTROLLED, focusing more on correct form(its harder when you do it this way)
DB chest press 20lb x 12
Incline Iso Press (for delts/a machine) 12.5lbs x 12
Skullcrusher 20lb x 16
Side grip seated row (very wide) 50lb x 10
Close grip rows 50lb x 10
And then we did abs(which we do every upperbody day)
When I do abs, I dont write down the exercises, maybe I should start doing that! But I usually do about 4 different exercises for the abs/obliques
And there you have it! Thats my last workout, I will post my next workout which will be legs!!!!!!

Don't worry about your #s being low at first! Getting the correct form down initially is what matters most. Great workout
lol @ the comment about Kashi cookies!
