Why is everyone suprised?

Its funny to me that a lot of you are suprised at the results. This isn't the first time people have been robbed of the Olympia title. Cutler 2001, Flex 1999 and maybe even 98(though Ronnie's 98 was one of the best of all time period if you ask me.) Labrada IMO should have won once or twice over Haney. Danny Padilla one year, maybe Shawn Ray once or twice. Arnold probably shouldn't have won his comeback victory.

I mean there has been tons of people screwed in this sport. Bodybuilding is about as political as it gets. The best doesn't always win, in fact often times they don't. I'm not suprised at the results, though I thought Vic was much closer to winning in the judges eyes than I thought possible. Dexter, Vic, Wolf, Johnny Jackson and David Henry should have all placed higher. But regardless of that, I'm actually much more impressed with the judges decisions on the top 10, a lot of the smaller or shorter more aesthetically pleasing guys placed pretty high including the lesser known guys, and that's a great sign. I wish they would have taken it a step further and given it to Vic or Dex, but nonetheless its a great sign. Let's hope it continues for next year.

I don't think it was a surprise for most people. I think that most people were hoping (me included) that the judging on the olympia level might have changed due to jay dethroning ronnie last year. Because of jay dethroning ronnie there was just a little hope for bodybuilding fans that the judges might actually look to see who's the best instead of giving out gifts, but it looks like the same old ****. guess we know who'll win next year.

What you don't think some of the smaller guys deserve better placings? Not sure what you mean here since you didn't elaborate.

I happen to think some of the guys I mentioned look a lot better than these massive dudes, these more aesthetically pleasing guys moving up makes me happy. I'd like to see bodybuilding go back to what its really about. But I'm in no way saying I'm happy with the top 5, if it was up to me Ron and Jay would have be at least fourth and fifth.

THe point is that is a SICK JOKE that you would say bbing is going in the right direction. You have a guy like wolf that EXEMPLIFIES what a Mr. O should look like. Yet a maytag fridge and a guy suffering from gh gut and half a body beats him. Yeah. I must say this a sign of good things to come.

I think we both agree, but I'm mentioning a few positive things, no matter how insignificant they are. Perhaps I'm looking at the bright side to justify watching next years Olympia? I don't know... but I don't think there is gonna be a complete 180 anyways. I'd would have love to have seen Dexter just randomly take this competition, but I don't think its going to work that way even if bodybuilding does ever get there. If it does bodybuilding does start to switch to the more aesthetic look then I think its gonna be a gradual switch. Personally though I don't know if its ever gonna happen, it doesn't seem that way right now even though I'm hoping.

Overall I just hope the IFBB is paying attention to these forums and to the fans, because I think there is an overwhelming disappointment this year in the winner and the top 5 in this contest. Keeping this up is only gonna hurt bodybuilding, they need to realize that. Most people don't want to see this ****. And after watching the Women's figure comp for the first time, I think they judge that better than the Men's competition. Seems as if they give it to the girl that looks the best, she could be more muscular or less muscular than desired or short or taller than preferred. Men's bodybuilding should be that way. The best look wins, that's how it should be.

That is where the sport is right now. He agrees that is bad. He seems to feel though that there is a glimmer of hope in moving a different direction.
