women vs men
I have a huge dude since I was a kid (I am 32). Can women beat men in sports or any phisical activity?? Could anybody answer me?
I am a man I play soccer in Argentina, in line hockey, tennis, golf, running and swimming.
I have been seen women with muscles and I love it! I think that girls can beat us in running and resistance. Nowadays you chicks have more muscular legs, bigger feet and arms that most men out there.
I noticed that records are changing too!!!
What are the real difference between the sexes? Are they cultural or phisycal? Women can beat men in any sport??
Thanks to everyone, love,
Carlos

I believe, and remember this is only my opinion, that we can do anything men can do. But I also believe that there are some things that the guys are better built for then us.
A lot of it can be because of cultural differences - different ethnic groups have different expectations then others.
I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this topic too.

In most sports, men have always beaten women, however the gap is narrowing, particularly in running and athletics in general. In fact, women seem to be better at endurance events, such as ultramarathons, and also regularly beat men at swimming.
Some studies say this is because of the womans natural tendency to store more bodyfat, which improves buoyancy in the water, and also provides fuel for endurance events.

Women are getting better and stronger. They can do long distance as good as men, high jump and so on. Its really only the stuff that involves power and extra muscle like swimming and sprinting that men have the upper hand.
I'd like to add that different races/nationalities have their own skills. The small african and nigerian runners excel at long distance. Whilst the USA supplies the heavy throwers like shotput and discus. The sprinters are normally heavily built for quick explosive bouts of energy.

That's interesting, because I noticed, years ago in the olympics, the majority of sprinters were black, and most long distance runners were white, but now we're seeing a lot of African runners winning marathons.

A big part of the reason Ethiopian runners are so good at marathons is their bodies are very efficient at utilizing the calories they consume. I read an article where it said that in Ethiopia they will jog 25 miles in the summer heat, after eating only a hand full of beans with minimal water, barefoot. Once they get proper nutrition and a good pair of running shoes you got the perfect marathon runner. also running is a way out of poverty for a lot of them, so I am sure that is a factor.

Thanks for such interesting opinions. I also want to know in which particular sport or athletic event women can beat us (men). Can a soccer women team beat a soccer men team??

I have played soccer all of my life and at a Division I school.....even though I think women are getting better and better at all sports....if I was up against a Division I male soccer player he would most likely be better. I think almost all division I male soccer teams would beat a divsion I girls team. If I was up against a male divsion III player I may be able to beat him.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the only sport (besides stuff like billiards and dart-throwing) where women routinely compete on a level playing field with men and win is equestrian.
For most athletic sports, women don't compete against men becaue our bodies are smaller, our bones are smaller, our hearts and lungs are smaller. . . .

Ask women's tennis champ Billie Jean King. In 1973, she beat former world champion Bobby Riggs 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 in a "Battle of the Sexes" match at the Astrodome in Houston.

Blue,
Though I think the topic of this thread is troll material, you really can't use the Billy Jean/Bobby Riggs match as indiciative of anything. There are much better examples I'm sure of women besting men on equal fields of endeavor without using this particular example.
Billy Jean was in her prime as a tennis player at the time, While Bobby Riggs was a loud mouthed has-been. She ran rings around him. Hell, I don't play much tennis but I bet I could have beat him!

I think the only difference really is that men do get an upperhand in contact sports and sports that are majorly strength based. Football/Rugby and wrestling to some extent.
(I would be afraid to wrestle a woman in my weight class who know what she was doing! And I didn't!)
There are always exceptions... Small men and strong women bend the curve etc... I once saw my ex gf who was 6' 190 female BBer shoulder tackle this 5'4" wimpy guy, and it took him about a half hour to get back up.
When it comes to skill, endurance, technique, intelligence, I think it's a perfectly level playing field... I might give a little nod to the women, in some cases just because some of us competitive males will sometimes let the male ego get in the way, and actually cause us to under-perform because we'll be trying too hard to over perform.

women will never be able to beat men in any sport
compare the best male athlete in a sport to the best female athlete in the same sport, the man will win every time
now this is not to be sexist, its just the way bodies are built

With, as I said above, the notable exception of equestrian sports.

Yes, in equestrian, it all has to do with who has the most money to buy the best horses...i am a better rider than most guys and girls, but they win cause they have $500,000 horses and i have a $2000 horse.
I think that if a woman is born with natural talent then she will be able to beat a guy that doesnt in soccer for eg, she runs fast, and he doesnt plain and simple, happens in alot of sports. I can deadlift more than a guy my wieght, not because im a girl, but because im strong!! I dont think its male or female, but whether they are better or not.

So true. . . . I guess I was referring to the elite levels where everybody has the nicest and most expensive of everything. Or, as in my case, the schooling show level where we're all on lesson horses. . . *shrug*
