Had My Testosterone levels checked

According to my Doc, I'm a "little low" at 229. However, I'm "normal" at 2.5% Free testosterone. He also said something about 57 picka-grams, or something along those lines (sorry, results are probably in the mail).

I had my test levels checked because of recent hairloss (probably just MPB, ugh).

Thoughts on those levels? Also, I'm 27, and have been under a fair amount stress recently because of a new job. Also, my diet hasn't been all that great, and I haven't been able to workout very much within the last few months.

Actually

I feel fine, however I've always had a little problem putting on muscle, and not the greatest sex drive. So...I always figured I may be a little low on the test scale.

Any other thoughts?

If this test is total testosterone your dam low think about the long road ahead of you and what these levels are going to do to your health. Run from this Dr. he is not up on low testosterone. Find a Dr. that treats a lot of men for this and get re checked and try to find out why your so low. Most times if you fix the cause your levels will come back up. What ever you do don't see an Endo or Uro not good Dr.'s for this. There are some out there but far and few between. Look for this kind of Dr. here is some help.

American Academy of Osteopathy
Find an osteopath in US and some other countries

General Osteopathic Council
Find an osteopath in almost any country

Healthfinder
Find an osteopath near you in the US. Also links to site to explain what an osteopath is.

*I recommend avoiding osteopathic endos. They seem to be the same as regular endos.

Thanks PM! Any particular reason you think that an Osteopath will do a better job than an endo, considering endo's deal with hormone issues? Do you think the endo will just put me on HRT without trying to address any underlying causes?

Any specific questions I should ask when I call? There are quite a few in my area (Santa Monica).

I can only tell you about what I had to go through with Endo's and other men I have talked to. They are not good for anything but sugar problems. Most will tell a man this low your ok no problem and when they bitch about how bad they feel the dam Endo offers them Antidepressent drugs they will not put the poor guy on Testosterone that will make him feel like his depressed but will put him on drugs that will make him feel worse. With that said before you see a new one ask how many men does the Endo treat for low testosterone. Does he treat with shots everyweek and if one is Secondary does he use HCG. Also ask if the Dr. tests for high Estradiol and if high does he use Arimidex to get it down. If you are told yes and you see this Dr. and he does not do this don't pay him.

If your Dr. calls 229 a little low what is the range of this test my range is 210 to 1000 you need to be up into the upper 1/3 of this range.
