Dbone's Perfect Strangers Log - FINAL REVIEW
Another log, another review! You can find the entire log here
The Players -
Molecular Nutrition X-Factor (XF Original)
Molecular Nutrition Test Factor Advanced (TFA)
Goal -
Recomp (or maybe a rebulk?), lean muscle, little to no fat gain.
Stats -
Height: 5'11"
Beginning Weight (6/14/2012): 188lbs, approx 12.5%+ BF*
Ending Weight (9/7/2012): 193lbs, approx 12.9%+ BF*
* I don't believe the Omron device I use for BF% to be all that accurate (I will get swings in excess of 1% from day to day), so really I just use it more to get general numbers.
Typical Dosing -
- For XF I took anywhere from 1-2g ArA on workout days only, approx 30-45 minutes pre (along with 2g LCLT). For the last 3-4 weeks of the XF run I stuck closer to 2g ArA.
- For TFA I took 3 caps twice a day (both dosages approx 25-30 minutes prior to a carb meal)
Lifting Program -
Layne Norton's PHAT
Diet -
What diet lol? My diet varied probably anywhere between 2,200-2,800 calories a day. Fat stayed around 50-100g, Protein around 150-200g, and Carbs around 200-250g. Ice cream became a focal point of my diet the last few weeks lol
Results -
* Appetite - whoa! In the past year or so as I have shed the pounds my appetite has been under control. With XF I noticed a pick up in appetite, but nothing like when I added TFA. Seriously I spent most of the day thinking about food.
* Strength - Within a few weeks of taking XF I started noticing slight increases in strength. Once I added TFA into the mix the combination of the two really kicked things into gear, as each week I felt stronger then the previous. I don't track PRs too closely except for a few lifts, and by the end of the log I had hit a few new PRs
* Vascularity/Muscle Fullness - Great pumps, great muscle fullness, great vascularity. This is an area that I think XF and TFA do well on their own, but combined they really shined together.
* Libido - No noticeable libido changes from XF (wasn't expecting any). With TFA there were definitely periods where libido was on fire, but overall I would say it remained at a "comfortable" level
* Body Recomp - As I mentioned my appetite was let out of the cage on this stack, yet I managed to stay lean. Looking at my stats I increased my weight between 3-5lbs during my XF/TFA run, yet my bf% went up less then 1%. This is an area where, for me at least, TFA and XF really excelled, allowing me to bump up my macros with all the benefits (increased strength and muscles) with minimal effect on body fat.
* Most Noticeable Body Part Improvement - my back continues to be the body part that really seems to be making the most progress
Side Effects -
* Acne/Oily Skin - very little.
* Joint Soreness - bumping up XF to 2g a day, there was a noticeable effect on joint soreness. Nothing to the point that I couldn't work through.
* Muscle Soreness - DOMS was all over the place. The first week or so after starting XF DOMS was present but then would subside. However, when I bumped up my XF to 2g and added TFA DOMS some days would have me fearing my ability to get off the can!! This I believe is in part to XF and TFA allowing me to push myself harder at the gym, so it was a welcomed soreness
Brief Summary By Supp -
* X Factor - Improvement in strength and muscle fullness.
* TFA - Libido increase, GDA like qualities when combined with a carb meal, increase in strength, increased alpha feeling
Noteworthy PRs -
- Rack Lifts - 475lbs @ 3
- Deadlifts - 420lbs @ 2
- Back Squats - 265lbs @ 3
- Flat/Incline Dumbbell Presses - 100lbs dbs @ 6
