Aimpoint 3xMag???
I'm thinking about getting one to go along with my Aimpoint CompM3 red dot sight. Anyone have any thoughts/feelings/reviews of them???

It works, but when it's attached, you're doubling the weight of your optic.
Better to get Larue mounts for your Aimpoint and another for whatever 3x or 4x optic you want, then swap them. It will hold zero.

I'm not sure I agree, but I will second the brand suggestion. I have a couple Larue products and could not be happier with them. And they will hold zero just like Nuggz said.

That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct." - Justice Scalia, DC vs Heller

Factor in the weight of the optic plus the weight of the magnifier. Then factor in the weight of the rail system which is now required to mount your Aimpoint as both won't fit on the flat top.
I'm pretty sure it'd double it. How much does the 3x magnifier weigh?
ETA looked it up.
The Comp ML2 weighs 7.1 oz. The magnifier also weighs 7.1 oz including the rubber cover, so that's 14.2 oz total plus mounts.
The TA01 weighs 9.9 oz. The website doesn't say whether or not that includes the integral mount, but if we're going Larue, then call it 9.9 plus the weight of the mount.
So it's actually not a huge difference, but you need to consider the fact that the aimpoint mag setup requires 2 mounts plus the railed foregrip. Plus the weight is further forward on the weapon (assuming you keep the aimpoint on the flat top normally).
Of course, if you go with 2 optics you're going to have to carry the weight anyway, but not on the weapon. With the Aimpoint and mag, you're carrying more weight on the weapon but less total weight, versus two optics, if that makes sense.
Just trying to weigh pros and cons. I thought about springing for a 3x mag for my EO but I can't justify the cost. Then again, even at assrape prices, the total cost is less than a single ACOG.
ETA2: I stand corrected: you can mount both on a flat top if you attach your Aimpoint with the cantilever mount. My bad.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say that it wouldn't add weight. Just that I might not care so much. Two optics will of course weigh more than one.

Forever aBOARD
I vote get an Acog. They are sexy as hell, fast on target, tough, and still work quite well for CQB. After using one I'd buy one in a heartbeat> any other optic if I had the money. They even impressed me indoors.
However they are quite expensive...

Trijicon charges something in the neighborhood of $250 when you want to get the Tritium replaced.
They charge assrape prices, but make a good product. Unfortunately, the IDF only buys the TA01s AFAIK.
