How to measure your waist correctly?

Please help. I thought it was where your belly button is at but have read and been told it is where your waist naturally hits. Like mine is about 2 or so inches above my belly button. That is where I start the curviness. Please help me. I would hate to use the measurement around my belly button.

Your waist is the narrowest part of your torso.

Nice. So all these years i have beatin myself up cause I could not break a 30 inch waist. Now I know this I am at 27.5 or so....Nice!!!!!! Hoping to get my measurements down to 36-24-35 or so. Right now I am at 36-27-39. LOL

well, you're beating me for waist atm.. I'll be happy to get to 27, really happy.

I am 43 and I will say gravity has had its way with me. the "how to measure chest" says, hold tape at nipples. ????

Do us females measure like we do for bra, under breasts? or with bra on? or slightly above breasts?

I am trying to get an accurate measuring system for the 2nd annual bodybuilding.com contest/hydrocycut contest. Not just looking to say what my "measurements" are for goals etc.

Measure with a bra on across the widest part.
