How do you know if the 'excess' around your abdominal area is fat, water retention or just loose skin? Is there anything you can do to determine this?

Assume it's fat. To see how much of it is water retention, you could just stop consuming water in both liquid form and in foods, and avoid consuming electrolytes. Not very healthy, but after a day or two you won't be retaining very much water.
i have alot of stuff over my abdomen some days and none the next day, plus it looks great but feels soft
