Is Sitting considered Resting?
Good Day! I've lost 42 lbs in 8 months through diet and cardio and a little weight lifting. I don't want to be a guy who lost a lot of weight and looks like he contacted a serious disease. I wanted to be firm. So last week I started to intensify my workout regimen and lifted heavier. Read a lot about REST as essential for muscle growth. My question is, due to work, my sleeping time averages only about 6 hours max. Is this enough? My work is sitting whole day in front of the PC, does this count as a rest for my muscle?
Thanks much!!! Really appreciate your inputs!

no, you need REM sleep. you should be fine with 7 - 8 hours a night though. ever tried napping on the weekends? if you nap, try to nap for atleast 1.5/3 or 4.5 hours at a time. an REM sleep cycle takes approximately 90 minutes to complete so optimal naps are based on those times.

With a little reworking of your daily schedule I bet you could squeeze out another two hours of sleep. 8 hours is ideal, lifting heavy and running on 6 hours a night will eventually lead to a crash, you'll get the flu easily, start binging. It's all about the healthy balance, and consistency when it comes to such important issues as rest.

Your question has already been answered, but I just wanted to say congrats on your transformation so far. I looked at your pictures, and that is quite the change so far. How many calories diid you consume daily and what kind of cardio did you do?

Thankyou! congrats to you! your sig says you've lost 61lbs! wow! for the calories i really don't know I'm not the kind who measures what he eats but they're fairly small amounts, I'd say maybe 1900 cal/daily. My cardio? basketball 3x week, jog 3x week, and i don't use the elevator at our office building, stairs going up and down (16th floor).
For the replies, reps. salamat!

yea man i agree, 158 Lbs is gettin kinda light! Time for a clean bulk to pack some mass on you, get that metabolism rolling and after a few months of that pretty soon it won't be so hard to keep the BF% down.

I agree--it always looks really awkward when people lose a drastic amount of weight without adding lean mass. Just keep your training regimen constant for now, but eat clean foods like a horse. Do a bit more lifting and you'll start seeing results in no time.
