Masters O champ RIP
Masters Olympia Champ R.I.P
« on: Today at 09:43:37 PM »
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to report that DON YOUNGBLOOD has passed away in his home, apparently the cause of death being a massive heart attack.
Don stunned the bodybuilding world by beating the previously "unbeatable" Vince Taylor at the 2002 Masters O. *Don went on to forfill his lifelong dream of competing in that years Mr. Olympia later that same year.
Don just celebrated his 51st birthday April 7, and ran a very successful trucking business in his home state of Arkansas with his wife and children.
On behalf of all the IFBB pros, I wish to express our deepest sympathies to the Youngblood family. Don was a champion bodybuilder, but more importantly a devoted husband, father and grandfather...he will be missed.
Celebrate Don's life by visiting his website at www.donyoungblood.com

Sad to see anyone die young, but he'd may still be around had he not followed the pro bbing lifestyle.

Yeah, he might have died 10 years earlier from colesterol, if not for the pro bodybuilding lifestyle...
Don't be ignorant.

Ignorant???????????????? The roids are prob what gave him heart desease in the first place, Bobby boy. How many 51 year-olds who 1: don't smoke 2: don't drink, 3:aren't obese 4:are physically active Die from heart attacts??????????????????????? Bob, there's no denying that anabolic drugs tend increase cholestoral levels as well as other factors that can lead to heart problems. Read up.

And he could have died 30 years earlier in a car accident. Who cares, there are risks involved with EVERYTHING.
It's important that he did what he wanted to and made the most out of his mortality.

A guy who works at my company I work with was one of the healthiest mofo's you'd ever met in your life. Ran all the time, had oustanding cardio vascular capability, was on a very healthy vegan diet, was in great shape for his age (mid 40's) and then one day, had to go to the doctor for unusual chest pains. Triple by-pass later, he's okay and on the road to recovery. Doctor said there was nothing he could have done, just the way his body was made and some genetic factors. His cholestoral levels were perfectly fine. And I can assure you, he wasnt on steroids.
The truth of the matter is that you have no idea what caused this man's heart attack.
The point of this, when someone is paying tribute to a friend, fellow competator, and someone who is deceased, MAYBE NOW IS NOT THE TIME GO SPOUTING OFF and how it may be potentially the fault of the deceased because of the lifestyle they chose.
Show some respect for the man and his grieving family. You want to talk about steroids and stuff, start your own f**king thread, or jump on one of the other ones that already exist.

If a heavy smoker dies of lung cancer, what would be his advice for a long healthy life?? Marlboros? I doubt it.

Why because this man's heart desease was most likely brought about by anabolic abuse, and I don't think bbing should be life threatening?????

Well it is safer than many sports. I don't know if you realized but 11 football players died in 2004. Most of these were do to head and neck injuries. Five female college soccer players died on the field in 2004. These were athletes who died while playing the sport, they died directly because of there participation. You cannot say for a fact Don passed away due to steroids. If I died in the gym today because a squat rack fell on me then yes you could say bodybuilding caused my death. Anyway my main point is how can you say bbing should not be life threatening?? All sports can life threating. Can you name me 11 bodybuilders in 2004 that actually passed away in the gym directly due to the sport, or onstage??
R.I.P. Don, you were a great bodybuilder and one of my favorites...

One of the female college soccer players who died recently was a close friend of mine. And your comments about Don would be like someone saying to me "Shame to see anyone die so young, maybe she would be around if she didn't live the soccer lifestyle." And that would be bull**** although it may be true. there are risks everywhere, you have to pick the ones to take. I mean I could say maybe if people who died in car wrecks would still be alive today if they didn't live the driving lifestyle. I hate to go on and on with this thread and argue so I am done after this post. I just got all worked up. every sport could be a little safer but there are risks of dying with every sport short of playing chess.

Soccer is dangerous in the respect that it's a contact sport. Hence, there are rules that minimize the risk. What rules in pro bbing regulate anabolic drugs????????????????????

Don looked phenomenal when he won the Masters. He beat Vince Taylor, who was probably on the same stuff. The dangers of drugs can be debated on all manner of forums. This thread should purely be to pay tribute to of the best bodybuilders in the business. RIP Don.

Festus-
you're a complete and utter moron...as usual.
There are also hundreds of former pro competitors, alive and well and in their 60's 70's... some of them still compete! what about them??
Try and focus on the steroid problem where it's MORE prevelant...in the NFL.
Their dropping like flies over there...probably from the "football" lifestyle.

Bob,
Thanks for sticking around the site, I know many pro's are gone and members like Festus are the reasons why. It is one thing to confront problems and argue in a mature way and it is another to be a moron and make ignorant statements. I met you at the Arnold expo Bob and you were a hell of a nice guy to me and my buddies. Anyway thanks for sticking around and sorry for making this thread a "bitch at festus thread" it should be all about Don's memory but Festus always gets me worked up. And a lot of other people...
