For a weekend car what would you suggest **PICS** and **POLL**
Housing prices are ridiclious in the UK so i've given up getting onto the property ladder and decided just to satisfy my need for speed, and get a **** fast weekend car....... but I'm spoilt for choice...help me misk!
The bottom line is I want something stupidly fast without breaking the bank. This means the best option is a bike, however I want to see 40, and therefore will settle for a car instead.
I got a little economy car to go to work, so it doesn't have to be too practical, however my critera is that it needs to be:
Light
powerful
cheap ....so basically power to weight to price ratio has gotta be good, but looks/sound will be esoteric factors
So far TVR SAGARIS
345bhp/ton @ ?55,000 ($110K)
ARIEL ATOM
657bhp/ton @ ?35,000 ($70K)
LOTUS EXIGE S
234bhp/ton @ ?35,000 ($70K)
AC COBRA
250/ton @?25,000 ($50K)
M12 NOBLE
335bhp/ton @ ?35,000 ($70K)
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO 8 MR (FQ400)
280bhp/ton @ ?47,000 ($94K)

Damn cars where you live are expesive as ****. Not sure on the Lotus Exige, but you can get a Lotus Elise for about $45,000 and an EVO 9 MR here is going for under $30,000. How much freaking money do you make at 22 to be able to afford a car like that?

over all killer car dude, performance + quattro 4 wheel drive, awesome interiors... and its an AUDI
Yeah, but the 2.7L only has like 220hp and the 3.2 has like 250hp, yeah its got the name Audi and it looks good, but I prefer something with alittle more power.

I dont think your gonna achieve 0 to 100 in 3.5 seconds. The new 505hp Z06 Vette does about 0 to 60 in the low 3 second range.
well 0-60 [miles]
I mean 0-100[km]
Quote:
The new model is based on the Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ320 and was developed in the UK by Mitsubishi Motors UK’s motor sports department, in association with tuning specialists Rampage, Owen Developments and Flow Race Engines. Together, they modified the Lancer’s legendary 2.0-litre turbocharged engine so that it now produces a mighty 405 bhp and 355 lb-ft of torque.
This is enough to propel the FQ400 from 0-60 mph in an incredible 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 175 mph. It is a performance that even some of the world’s most exotic supercars struggle to match. The ?330,000 Porsche Carrera GT, for example, requires 3.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62 mph, while the ultra-exclusive Pagani Zonda needs 3.7 seconds. The BMW M3 – hitherto the benchmark ‘everyday supercar’ – takes 5.3 seconds to achieve the same feat.

The sag is going to be hugely expensive + has no safety features what so ever.
The Evo is the most practical of the bunch - good luck finding an FQ400
Lol at the American effort
Ariel atom - I hate to say it but after about 5 mins of raining youd wish you had something with a roof.
The Exige is prob a good bet - get an early second hand one for a good price. They are super light easy to maintain, descent mpg (for that type of car with a 1.8 from honda I think).
You also have the VX220, faster and handles better than the Elise and looks similar too.
Thought about getting an Elise, enough of them about so you can get a good price. Then you have the TVR Tuscan - can pick one up for just over ?15K
For a much cheaoer price you can get your hands on a good Calibra 175hp. A mate of mine has one and he took me out for a spin in it - very fast.
Have you thought about a second hand Porche - a boxter or a 911?

Cheers for the suggestions buddy
The TVR would be the upper limit at 50K GBR with a few miles on the clock.
Good call on the VX220
Yeah, 2nd hand porsche wouldn't be bad, something like a Cayman S

You can't beat it for pure fun. I was surprised to even see it on your list.

If I was wronged by anyone, in or out of the club, I had to be compensated - money or blood. There was no turning the other cheek. When relationships become a ledger of profit and loss, you have no friends, no loved ones, just plusses or minuses. You're absolutely alone.
I was behind a Tamora the other day, and before noticing it I honestly thought somone was on a Harley Davidson!
If I could ever afford it I would get a TVR Tuscan, or the four seater one - its more understated.

quite seriously the lotus is the best car there besides the atom, but thats practically a go-kart.
Lancer is beans and much better can be had for that money, the Nobel is actually very good and is much cheaper in the UK than it is here, but agian the Lotus is better even if its not faster, steering tracks better, chassis inspires complete confidence.
The only downside to the lotus is the supercharger roar is quite annoying if you plan on using it for street use.
None of these cars are quiet but the lotus is especially bad.
And youd never actually buy an AC cobra, youd just have a shop build one, that doesnt cost anywhere near 50k.
You cant beat the Atom for speed, especially the stage 3 your selected, but they are rarely outfitted for street use (although they can be). Its a track monster and isnt made for anything else.
1. Atom (see above)
2. Lotus
So buy the lotus. (Toyota engine by the way, supercharged)
But you could do better if you have 70+k to throw around.
Why not buy a Porsche, you can not find a better sportscar, take it from an American Muscle fanatic, Porsche is THE sportscar company of the industry, they are the baseline for which all other sportscars are judged, I dont even like this type of car, but am forced to admit its superiority.
