    This is a bit confusing to picture. When you lie flat, are you lying prone as people normally do for rear delt flies? How do we get any range of motion when we lie on the floor instead of on a bench? How do you put a dumbbell in front of your thigh when your quads are resting on the floor?

    Lie on your side. If working your right arm, lie on your left side. You can do them on the floor, but I've also done them lying on a bench and even on a slight angle (I used a decline bench and hung my feet off the end where you'd normally have your head)
