NEED HELP (abandoned the sport for a year)

OK so I used to be hella ripped and pretty diesel. 223 lbs and 6'0". Now I am about 255-260 and fat. Ive never had to make a comeback before so my question is this. Before I start cutting, should I just lift hard for a while until I get my strength and mass back and then cut? Or should I just go straight to cutting?
