Naps good or bad for weightloss?
Sometimes, after working out, Ill take a 1-2 hour nap. I usually do this at 3pm or so. Is this good or bad for weightloss or does it make any difference at all?
thanks

My mommy says that anabolic naps are #1.
Seriously though, power naps help the anabolic process.

Staying awake when you need to rest can only be a bad thing.

When I quit smoking I'd have to nap every day or I'd start to shut down(fall asleep on my desk, at the wheel, whatever).

I take a nap every afternoon after class. However I only sleep 5-6 hours at night.

This is the first time I've ever agreed with you!
OP, there's nothing wrong with a nap! I just had one, actually...and one yesterday too. When you're cutting, you're working hard while reducing caloric intake, so obviously you'll get fatigued. Add school and whatever other responsibilities you have on top of that, and it adds to the physical and mental stress. Naps are great, especially after a tough workout and a hot shower.

I usually take a nap after my lifting. My schedule is flexible so I can. I feel so much better after getting an hour in. Plus my sleep pattern is really jacked from work so I get up alot at night anyways, so little spurts help me a ton. If only people didnt call 911 from 10pm on :P

Weird, since I've lost quite a bit of body fat I seem to be tired all of the time, sleepy tired in general.

I personally think naps are great when use sparingly. If you workout early, naps afterwards help build muscle if you ate after you workout. Arnold and Franco did this all the time. If you are like me and workout in the later parts of the day, a nap beforehand can re-energize you giving you more focus and energy to get a greater workout. As for weight management, if you are eating clean and doing weights and cardio, then I can't see naps causing any extra 'unwanted' poundage.

if you get enough sleep at night, then there should be no need for a nap. You would probably sleep better at night if you skipped the nap.

Sleep deprivation will increase hunger cravings, so essentially yes naps generally aid in weight loss.

One of the biggest dudes I'd ever seen always napped for 2 hours after his workout and then slept for 9 hours at night too!!
He's 45 now, though he told me it was possible to sleep for that much time back in those days

It's a fact that the longer one sleeps the more results they get, unless they sleep for like 12-15 hours or something, in which one would be deprived of nutrients for a bit too long.
Naps would definitely assist in anabolism, but I agree with Slim Tom, if you get plenty of sleep at night then it's not a necessity.

If I'm sleeping, I'm not stressed
There are studies out there that say our "biological clock" tells us we need to nap sometime between 1-3pm. I'm not a doctor, nor am I at the height of fitness, but take it from a guy who works rotating shift work... naps help. Your body sleeps on 90 minute cycles. If you nap for about an hour to an hour and a half, you should wake up feeling refreshed... any longer or shorter you tend to feel groggy and worse than before you fell asleep. I'm just passing on what I've read.

according to power nap theories the ideal length of a nap for instant refreshment is 30-45 minutes, any longer and you will wake up sleepy. longer will probably do more for you in the recovery department though.

If i take any nap over an hour, im done for the night. Now sometimes if I fall asleep on the couch or say a tanning bed (no homo). I feel awesome and full of energy afterwards.
Also if i take a long nap during the day, my night sleep is ****
