In all honesty, I think AP's film study/understanding of other offenses is what kept him around this long. If his worth was based solely on his athleticism, he would've been cut a year, maybe two, ago. He's been slow for a while. Knowing where to be and letting his team mates know where to be is why he wasn't cut sooner, IMO.

It kinda saddens me to see AP released because him, Plaxico, and McKenzie were really the 3 big acquisitions that took this team from bad to decent. Them with a couple smart drafted players developing like Eli, Osi, Tuck, Snee, Jacobs, Ward, Webster, etc. we were able to become a yearly playoff team and SB champ. Ultimately yeah I think the writing was on the wall for this one but I will never look at Pierce's time as a Giant as anything but a great thing for the franchise.

I hope they at least look into this, I'm sure they will. We know he's a very good ILB, but how will coming to a 4-3 effect him? It might be a gamble. There's no doubt his athletic ability doesn't hold him back.
Yeah as you said the guy was a defensive peyton manning, the only other comparable veteran at MLB I see like that is Ray Lewis.
That team is breaking apart McKenzie will be gone sometime soon, this year or next. Jacobs/Osi...who knows.
Exactly. There is no need to be upset

Just want to throw this in, if AP's lack of speed was the problem with our defense covering people, then what happened in the last few games of the season? In 3 of the 4 games we gave up 38, 44, and 41 points with him being out due to the neck injury. I don't know if any of the guys on our team right now can be a legit starting MLB.

You guys need to stop worrying you're going to overpay for Karlos Dansby.

we're not gunna get mclain unless we trade up, and i highly doubt that's going to happen. i dont understand why you guys think AP was overrated. he led the team in tackles almost every year he's been here, he's done everything we asked of him (except man coverage), he made good reads. yeah he was old, and his injury was serious but i hate this move by the management.
hopefully we get DeMeco or Brandon Spikes .

Barrett Rudd does and he's a FA this year!! But, I m absolutely SOLD on the idea of bringing in Dansby for a ton of cash. He's worth it AND he was also who I wanted the Giants to draft back in 04 but, he was selected one pick before us, which we used to grab Chris Snee (who was the BEST college Guard at the time).

we really shouldnt for a tampa 2 approach... our corners arent that good, and our best LB now is michael boley, who's constantly injured

I disagree. Although I do not like Cover 2 defense, our corners are pretty good. Corey Webster has established himself as one of the better corners in the league, and I consider him in the upper tier for that category. Ross is solid if he can stay healthy. Last season I throw off as a complete waste for the whole defense, injuries coaching and inconsistency, I do not think we can judge the players off of it and they need another year to show what they can do.

"Cardinals free agent linebacker Karlos Dansby has taken to Sirius Radio again to express his interest in playing for the Giants.
SNY's Adam Schein wrote on his Twitter page that during the radio interview, Dansby said of the Giants, ""If they have interest in me, why not? let's go."
Dansby also mentioned San Diego, Miami and Washington as possibilities, according to Schein.
The Giants need a middle linebacker after releasing Antonio Pierce yesterday.
Last February, before he was given the franchise tag by the Cardinals, Dansby said, "Playing in New York? Who wouldn't want to play in New York?
"That's just like playing for the Dallas Cowboys, you know what I'm saying? It's a big market. You're going to get an opportunity to be prime time. It's a huge market. I wouldn't mind playing in a huge market. I wouldn't mind at all"☆☆☆MISC BOXING CREW☆☆☆
