I'm hooked, this is the most fun sport ever. Today was great and they said that I was a quick learner I just have to work on putting the weight behind me instead of over my head, besides that just little tweaks here and there and I should be good to go. They even said that I will probably meet the requirements for the Ray Hamilton Classic (oct. 20th), if I do I'll think about going in it depending on if I can actually compete and not embarrass myself, they said if not I'll be there are some comps in Mid november. Everyone should try itLast edited by Baker19; 09-19-2007 at 04:27 PM.

Then some split jerks 4x4, I'm not with my coach because Im back in my old town for the weekend so I don't quite now how to put together a workout and she just told me to do my usual thing, but Ill probably add in a press and back squats..

Ya, I found it akward the first time but the coaches are AMAZING they gave me little tips and whatnot and I did some random work, probably like 10 extra reps per exercise lol that I didn't write out from them helping me and whatnot.
I'm going to get some at the event on the 20th, I dont have a camera because my aunt and uncle don't want me to bring theirs, and I don't have one, but my mom is coming to watch on the 20th so Ill tell her to bring her camera and tape my lifts.

Today was a crazy session, the weights I wanna hit for the comp are 50kg snatch and 55kg C+J, I think I can get these.. I'll be competing in the 132lb class. Anyways, the backs were completely raw, unspotted, ATG as opposed to my below parallel spotted with a belt pr of 210x4 not to shabby. Snatches are coming along well, I know I can do a lot more on the C+J, it was my first session that I did jerks so once I get that down, which is coming quickly Ill be good.
Morning Weight: 128.5

Ya it was, man that huge cluster of squats was intense, esp. after everything.
Hahah thanks, at the end of the session I was trying to put one of those bouncy balls up on top of the power rack and I kept missing it and the guy said you wouldn't make a good seal, I told him it was a good thing I wasnt a seal. Then he said I'll make a good weightlifter .. My coaches are awesome.. And I met a girl that lifts there, and shes in my homeroom at school.. Pretty cool.
Hopefully, do you think it would be reasonable to go for 55kg C+J and 50kg Snatch on Oct. 20th, Obviously I'll go by feel but I mean like looking at where I am now and whatever.Last edited by Baker19; 09-26-2007 at 04:23 PM.

Lol Im sure by then you'll be kicking ass.. What are the lifts looking like now? SHoot me a link to your journal

Thanks bro, left a commentt..
Mike- Nice work man, looked at your workouts but then I left because the pictures took forever to load (dial up), I cant wait till your comp gets fixed, man do I have some stories to tell.. Nice to see the 35lber on squats and the big plate on deads eh.. Keep it up, Id switch back to flat bench though because at your weight symmetry doesn't matter as much as packing on mass, I'm in the same position, flat bb will do a lot more than flat db

My advice for the first meet is to try to go 6/6 - choose an opener that you can get any time no matter how crappy you feel, a weight that you KNOW you'll get. Stay conservative with your attempts and aim to make them all.
If that's 50kg - great, if that's an empty bar - great
With this sport and your club, you'll be competing often and doing better at every meet - so just stay conservative the first time out and lift whatever you can lift that day.
That said, Glen and Mel have way more experience and are much better coaches than me, so if they have a plan for you - stick to that like glue!

Ya they're great people. I think this is the friendliest sport, in bodybuilding some of the competitors I met were cocky and arrogant, I havent met any powerlifters but they tend to think that they are right and bber's are wrong, and then theres the oly lifters, the good people ..
Glen helped me a lot but I don't like him because he made me do 2 second pauses for fronts at the end of the workout ---- for 7 sets
