    Official Green Bay Packers Thread

I'm from Wisconsin and grew up about 50 miles from Green Bay. I started watching Packer football back when Bart Starr was the Green Packers coach. Never miss a game. Anyway, I am a little surprised the Packers started out 2-0. We knew that Favre would break Elway's most wins by an NFL quarterback and Marino's TD pass record but it's been a long time since the Pack hasn't started out 1-4, etc.

After watching DE K. Jenkins tear up the first two pre-season games, I expected a little more from him so far. You know that DE Kampman will always give you 100% but I would like to see more of a pass rush out of GB's defensive in the future. Knocking Manning on his ass might have knocked him out of his rhythm in the first half. Fortunately, the Giants self-destructed with stupid penalties (Shockey and Toomer).

WR J. Jones was a hell of a draft pick. He has the softer hands I have seen on a Packer. Everything Favre throws to him he catches. If WR G. Jennings could regain his first half of 2006 form, the Packers would have a solid trio at WR.

He was listed inactive for the game because of his hamstring. I haven't heard when he will be able to go. Morency has really blown his opportunity to become the number one back. I know he is injured but what an opportunity the Pack gave him by not going after a free agent or first-round pick.

He had a great oppurtunity and still does. With a very young and inexperienced back field, it is still up for graps. Wynn was a nice surprise yesterday though..

Agreed. Wynn looks like he hits the hole really hard and looks to be a great short yardage back. I enjoyed watching him carry the ball yesterday.

Morency will be able to add some speed to the backfield. That is currently, lacking. Wynn shows more a burst than Jackson, though. Jackson reminds me of Edgar Bennett except that he cannot catch a screen pass. Edgar was very good at catching screens and reading his blocks.

Edgar was one of the best at the screen pass. Being that he is the RB coach he needs to help these with this..

Did you see Ryan Grant's catch yesterday: http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/player...playerId=9475? That spin and run took tremendous balance. I prefer the Pack to keep rotating the backs to keep them fresh.

It was nice to see Favre hitting the backs on passes after Jackson has struggled catching screen passes.

Jennings has really been a non-factor since the second half of last year. He exploded in the pre-season, last year, and had a good first half of the year. His catch and run against the Lions reminded me of a young Antonio Freeman. I wonder how much injuries have had to do with his drop-off?

McCarthy needs to get it through his head that they can not get a good enough pass rush with the front four. As soon as they started blitzing more in the second half Manning did not do much back there. I do not care who is back there if you do not give him time to pass he is going to make a mistake and through a pick.

Jenkins has been a big disappointment. Kampmen at least gets pressure on the QB. Even if he does not always bring him down.

Jones has the best hands I have seen in a WR for the packers in a long time.

It definitely seemed like he slowed down after his injury. Yeah he did not have much speed but he could seem to get open and make moves with the ball after he caught it. To bad he would not show signs of returning to the WR he used to be. They said he never was at a 100 percent last year. His injury was bothering him most of the season.

The tight ends really impressed me during the game. Not a dropped pass and they were getting open. Farve always plays his best when he can through to his TE.

Favre got the tight ends (Franks, Lee), running backs (full back included), and wide receivers all involved in the passing game. It has been a long time since we have gotten production out of our tight ends (no homo). Favre might be able to go after the passing yardage record this year due to the fact that our running game is so bad. It will be a stretch but a possibility.

Korin Robinson is going to apply for reinstatement but I don't know if he will be able to help the Packers much this year.

It was definitely a nice surprise the drives they put on in the second half. Farve was on fire completing 14 of 14 passes to start out the second half. They finally realized that the Giants were weak at linebacker and exploited it.

The running backs were actually catching the ball out of the backfield which was a nice surprise.

Yeah when Farve is at his best is when he is getting everyone involved in the game. They tend to go away from the tight ends and running backs to much in the passing game. Spreading the ball out prevents the defense from keying on anyone player.

I think Farve will have a good chance at the yardage record. The running game is just terrible with Jackson in there as a starter. Wynn should be given a chance.

Robinson would be a big help but by the time he gets back the season will almost be over.

I thought Wynn was better than Jackson from the start. He seems to be faster and have better breaking tackle ability. I liked that number 25. He made that nice spin move on that reception and showed good speed. I do not know why they did not play him more.

My vote was for Favre too. He was on fire in the second half. He even hit that long ball to Jones in the game. That was a nice pass. He layed it right in there for Jones.

    Agreed.

Jackson looked like he didn't hit the hole hard at all, that's just what it looked like to me. Wynn's carries were solid yesterday.

Ryan Grant is number 25, he did look good too.

I liked Williams at kick returner. He sure showed some nice speed and agility on those two good returns. It sucks the one got called back. The Packers have been lacking a good return man for quite a few years. I can not wait wait until they got Blackmon back there too.

He, also threw a beautiful pass to Lee and a bullet to Driver for touchdowns. It was good to see Franks catch a touchdown to help build his confidence again. Two touchdowns by Packer tight ends is what we need since Ted Thompson was too cheap to bring in Randy Moss. When Favre is on, he is almost unstoppable. When is is off, he is awful (intereption machine).

Morency would definitely add some more speed back there at running back. With the Packers offensive line not blocking very well that is what they need back there is a guy with some speed to mix things up. Packers were always at there best in the running when they had a one two punch Levens and Edgar and Green and Davenport. Wynn and Morency splitting the time would add more depth to there offense.

That pass to Lee was right on the money. It could not have been a better pass. That was a bullet to Driver.

Lee definitely was a good surprise in the game. He has more speed than Franks and pretty good hands. It just seems like they do not get him involved in the game enough.

Yeah I was glad Franks got a TD. With two TE playing good it gives Favre more targets to pass to near the endzone.

Packers would have been awesome with Moss. Favre has never had a super good reciever like Moss for any period of time.

Check out the game Randy had last night against a good Charger defense: http://www.nfl.com/players/profile?id=00-0011754

GM Ted Thompson would not give up a fourth-round draft pick for him. What an asshat! The Raiders wanted to send Moss to the Packers so he wouldn't be in the AFC. Imagine what the Packers would be doing with Driver, Moss, and Jones.

Man, I was thinking about the Moss thing last night. I wish the Packers had of picked him up so bad. That would haved helped that offense so much.

Yeah he has like 4 td already and near 300 yards recieving. He would have been an excellent fit for Favre. There offensive passing game would have been really good.

Thompson is fool. They always think they can manage with what they got. You have to pick up key free agents to improve the team and give veteran stability to the team.

If K. Robinson cleans up his act the receiving unit would have been: Moss, Robinson, and Driver. That would have been the league's top trio, IMO. Jones and Jennings as back-ups would give you depth and a strong future at wide receiver.

Honestly Moss is playing good, because he is with the Patriots. If Brady wasn't getting the ball to Moss, or if/when (which is a big if/when) the Pats play like crap it will be the same Moss in Oakland
