How low to go, 1800?
I am a 5'11" 184lb male looking to lose some more weight, just want to verify a couple of things here...
I did a few online calculators to find my BMR which stands at about 2000 calories a day with no activity. I will be having surgery on Thursday which will put me in a sling until Nov. 1st.
I want to continue dropping weight during the six weeks in a sling.
At a 20% defect, I should be consuming 1600 calories daily, but I read the ACSM recommends no lower then 1800 for men. Is 1600 safe?
If we lived in a perfect world, 1800 (200 cal defect) calories daily over a 6 week time frame would be a total defect of 8400, or a little more then 2lb...sweet.
At 1600 (400 cal defect) is 16800...or 5lb. That's awesome...5lb in six weeks...almost too much for me there...

You can go as low as youd like, just have a refeed once a week.

Don't drop under 1800, that's already extremely low considering you won't be lifting weights. Ideally I wouldn't cut at all but it seems like you're pretty set on that. Especially since you're recovering from surgery, talk to your doctor before your diet after surgery.

Dude, cutting isn't always going to produce the results. I was cutting at 1800 last days because I couldn't snack [for various reasons]. And I didn't loose almost any weight... :\ I also did cardio and weights.
I think that I ate too little actually.
:\

Yea idk I eat about 3500cal sometimes more and I am losing weight but i guess my BMR and everything is different. I just eat a lot of clean foods thats prob. what I would focus on is just eating healthy and not count cals too much
