You sir are flirting with disaster.
I live in Florida and I like to kayak so I've seen a lot of alligators, ranging from just babies to 15 feet. My ex girlfriend who I kayaked with was also a wildlife biologist so I'm qualified to educate you. Listen to me.
1) I'm not afraid of alligators because a full grown human is not alligator food. A child or small animal is.
2) Many problem alligators became problems because they lost their natural fear of humans because humans fed them. They begin to associate humans with food. They're brains are not like your pet dog. Think reptilian.
3) Small alligators grow into big alligators, I'd venture to say the one in the picture could and would take your smaller child if the circumstances were right.
4) That alligator did not just appear by divine intervention. There's a momma alligator around somewhere.
5) Knock that crap off, keep your kids away from alligator infested water and teach them a healthy respect for alligators.

There is no "momma" alligator nearby...this was taken in a park in a pond about 10 yards across with no cover on the bank. The nearest lake is like 1/2 mile away. Nobody knows how this got here as it is in a very popular park. Right or wrong, lots of kids were feeding it. This is in Houston, alligators in the wild, but very rare.
edit: if there werent lots of kids, and it was in a more "wild" setting, then my kids wouldn't be within 100 yards of that thing. Just sayin.Last edited by FutureFoe; 09-14-2007 at 06:16 PM.

Haha...I have been a member for like 3 years, I just started a new account because I didn't like having my real name as a screenname, and I couldn't figure out how to change it. I don't care to post pictures of myself anyways, I'm not on here to win the acceptance of others.
