Do eggs usually have Omega 3?

I bought a dozen eggs by Wild Harvest because they were on sale. On the cover it says "Large, brown hen eggs with 200mg Omega 3s, no drugs, antibiotics, fed high quality whole grains..etc"

What's the big deal about eggs having Omega 3s.. Do all eggs have it or did they feed the hens Omega 3s and claim each egg is 200mg...

Omega 3 in big letters wasn't on any other dozen.

Omega 3 is a current buzz word. That's marketing for you.

I believe that all eggs have Omega 3 to some extent, however, eggs from free-range chickens are higher in Omega 3 than eggs from chickens raised in a typical mass-production farm. It has to do with their diets.

I am guessing from the name of the product as well as the description that these eggs are from free range chickens.

I started eating 'free range' eggs recently and noticed I don't feel weird after eating them like I do with supermarket eggs.

They all have a little bit I suppose, but if you buy eggs that are from hens fed a good diet (including omega-3 like flax), the eggs will have more and be healthier.

According to nutritiondata.com, a normal egg only has about 20mg of omega-3. So 200mg is a marked improvement.

So if you eat eggs, make sure they're "Omega-3 enriched" because they probably have 7-10 times as much omega-3 as a normal egg. I buy eggs from Egg Innovations and they have 150mg each. Good stuff.
