Personal trainers with average physiques - what do you think?
I know a lot of people use football coaches as an example to say you can know about something without looking the part, but fitness/bbing is such an involved thing I cant trust someone who doesnt take their own advice.

How does it make a difference how a personal trainer looks? His physical appearance doesn't make alter his knowledge or how well he can motivate a trainee and push him to his limits.
By your way of thinking a 6'6 280lber personal trainer would be a better personal trainer than a 5'1 90lber simple because he's bigger.
This is why pro bodybuilders very rarely make good personal trainers. They're big because of their genetics and drugs, not because of their training knowledge.

Oh, my, god. Becky, look at her butt.
It is so big. *scoff* She looks like,
one of those rap guys' girlfriends.
But, y'know, who understands those rap guys? *scoff*
They only talk to her, because,
she looks like a total prostitute, 'kay?
I mean, her butt, is just so big. *scoff*
I can't believe it's just so round, it's like,
out there, I mean - gross. Look!
She's just so ... black!
[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!
(LA face with Oakland booty)
Baby got back!
[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like 'em round, and big
And when I'm throwin' a gig
I just can't help myself, I'm actin' like an animal
Now here's my scandal
I wanna get you home
And ugh, double-up, ugh, ugh
I ain't talkin' bout Playboy
'Cause silicone parts are made for toys
I want 'em real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mix-a-Lot's in trouble
Beggin' for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Knock-kneeded bimbos walkin' like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sistas, I wanna get with ya
I won't cuss or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna ******
Til the break of dawn
Baby got it goin' on
A lot of simps won't like this song
'Cause them punks like to hit it and quit it
And I'd rather stay and play
'Cause I'm long, and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on
So, ladies! {Yeah!} Ladies! {Yeah}
If you wanna role in my Mercedes {Yeah!}
Then turn around! Stick it out!
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back!
Baby got back!
Yeah, baby ... when it comes to females, Cosmo ain't got nothin'
to do with my selection. 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3".
[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none
Unless you've got buns, hun
You can do side bends or sit-ups,
But please don't lose that butt
Some brothers wanna play that "hard" role
And tell you that the butt ain't gold
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So Cosmo says you're fat
Well I ain't down with that!
'Cause your waist is small and your curves are kickin'
And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'
To the beanpole dames in the magazines:
You ain't it, Miss Thing!
Give me a sista, I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
'Cause his girls are on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And I pull up quick to get wit 'em
So ladies, if the butt is round,
And you want a triple X throw down,
Dial 1-900-MIXALOT
And kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back!

I specifically didnt mention anything about size, so youre an idiot. I said "physique", meaning little muscle mass, high bodyfat, etc.
P.S - Im pretty sure Ronnie would make a better personal trainer than some 20 year old with a GED who took a 6 hour course online.

I addressed that by using the example of a pro bber. They have VERY high amount of muscle mass and a VERY low amount of bodyfat. Does that make them the best personal trainers in the world because they have the best physiques in the world? The answer is no, they're big because of their incredible genetics and incredible drug use.

Personal Trainers with perfect physiques are usually the worst trainers. Mainly because they have huge egos and sell training based on there looks and not knowledge and they dont give 2 shists about their clients. Who would u think has more knowledge. A 25 year old whos been a trainer for 3 years and has a great physique. Or a 38 year old whos been training for 15 years and has a so so physique mainly because he works 50 hours a week and has a family and not much time to train himself.

and this is why you will never get big. Having a personal trainer with an admirable physique is better because they know what it takes to get that way. There is only so much you can learn from books. Experience is what really counts. Would you hire the harvard grad fresh out of school, or the person who has been doing the job for 20 years and is awesome at it? That smart fatass does not know what it takes beyond the print in a book. Plus, how motivated are you going to be with some scrawny or fatty training you, or with a jacked mofo you want to look like training you? Experience beats booksmarts anytime

Some guy at my height was trying to give me advice and wouldent leave me the hell alone.
Hes my age, like 180, 30+% body fat. (hes a fatty) Hell besides his gut Im twice his size.
And he lifts about half what I do and he wouldent buzz off when I was doing my warmup and stretching, he asked what I was doing today and I told him chest so he recommended I use the machines, so I just said "nah" free weights, and he went into some long statment that he read on the back of a brochure or something and I just kept walking off.
You dont have to be fit to get hired, hell you dont even have to have credentials.

I never said you can inject all day and become a top pro. Of course it takes a lot of gym time and eating to be a top pro. Lets choose two guys from the population. One trainee has average genetics and the other is in the top 1% of the genetic spectrum. Both use the exact same diet, routine and everything is essentially the same. The guy with the better genetics will be the one with the better results and add in drugs and you'll soon see the very obvious differences.
We're getting a little off your original question but here's another example. I'm far healthier than my doc, but does that mean I know more about keeping healthy and medical science than he does?
Hopefully that'll make more sense to you.

You have to look the part. You dont see a business man dressed shabby, but they are dressed professionally and well groomed. They look the part. Same thing applies to personal training.

I agree with the OP. In personal training, their body is their advertisement. If they can't even follow their own advice, why should anyone listen to them? Of course there are exceptions such as if they got pregnant, or had a long lay off from injury or whatever, but in most cases, you'd prefer a personal trainer with your ideal physique.

Oh Jesus Titty-f*cking christ...
This section is getting worse and worse. Every time I read something like this, it makes me want to commit genocide.
You f*cking tw*t... I have terrible genetics, chemical-free and right now, I'm probably twice the size you are and around 13%. What now, bitch? I have more bodybuilding information in my head than you have naked guys in your spank bank, son. I've experimented with more training programs and diets than you have ever heard of. Eat ****.

If you're thinking that way then you're in the gym for the wrong reasons. You should be there for yourself and you should be focusing on yourself.
What does experience have to do with anything? Building a good physique is very different from building a good business.
