Should you still train when you are ill?
A few months back I got sick and was not feeling well for about 3 weeks. I think I may have had the flu. I know that everyone says that you shouldn't exert yourself when you are sick, but when you are a competitor, being out of the loop for nearly a month can hurt your progress. So my question is... Would it be worth anything to train when you are feeling under the weather?
(Obviously, I would not be bringing my yuck to the Gym...)

Its only your self that knows how well you are, i would listen to your body, not your the iron devil trying to get you to the gym, listen to your body if you're not feeling up to it i wouldn't, i would also give it 1 extra week for full recovery if its quite a serious illness.

I feel your pain! I'll tell you what i tell my clients when they encounter the same thing: if you feel horible, don't train. If you feel under the weather but not horrible (as in you'd still go to work), then I would train but train lightly. I call this an "anti-atrophy workout." At least you won't regress that way.

Once again I agree with Dr. Clay on this one. I think you try and gauge how sick you are and go from there. If you are extremely ill, the thought of working out probably wouldn't even cross your mind. If you feel you have some gas left and can brave a mild workout then go for it. Don't increase the chances of worsening your condition with an all out, back to the wall session, but get in something, no matter how light if possible and you are in the mood to do it.
A couple of times a year I will get a slight illness, but I am motivated to go and I get something accomplished during the workout. I try to be sure that when I leave I will feel the same or better than when I walked into the gym; definitely not worse, or it is detrimental to your progress.
I hope this help. Good luck.

I would say no. But I would recomend Pomegranate Juice its really great for recovery and also to help your immune system. Also great for fighting cancer. I used to take it with my post workout shakes. It really works even though it can be a little costly.
