best over the counter pain medicine?

I pulled a muscle in my neck today while working out. I can't see the doctor till Monday and i have to work all weekend (police officer in a pretty busy area). What is the best pain reliever/anti inflammatory on the market today? I have been pretty lucky avoiding injury to this point. Back in the military they used to give use 800mg motrin but that really didn't seem to help much.

hey boss, I honestly dont have any advice in this. But if it were me, I would get an ice hot back pack and put it on there, or try putting heat on the injured area, this should help until you go to the doctors

Thanks. I bought a hot/cold pack from CVS and it helps. I'm just worried about work the next couple nights.

If you're willing to move to the DC area i could hook you up with our department. It's a medium sized department (500 officers) and they give good benefits and good retirement. We only work half the month (5 day on/ 4 day off cycle) and get paid pretty good. It's a good job if you can deal with the BS from some of the population...

see if you can get some ibuprofen, anti inflammatory and decent pain relief

You can take 800mg ibuprofen and 1000mg paracetemol together. With that, you want to use heat packs and try not to hold your neck rigid (keep it moving so it doesn't tighten up).

Advil. Take 3 to 4 Advil every 3 to 4 hours the first day, then take 2 to 3 Advil every 3 to 4 hours after that. Keep taking it religiously to keep the swelling down. If you have Fish Oil take that as well. It has anti-inflammatory properties.

We have mostly crown vics, a couple new Chargers just came in but the trunk space sucks so they will probably stick with the vics.
