I realize beer is bad. However, through the nutrition chart, I don't understand why beer is so bad for.
each contains 150 cals, 12 carbs, 1g protein and 0g fat. Can someone please explain this to me?

1 beer isnt bad, but ppl tend to have more like 10 so then it becomes bad. Alcohol is harsh on the liver too, that is another reason. Just be safe! i know im gonna tonight

It keeps the beer from having an overly bitter taste I suppose since everytime I've drank organic beer, it's been decently bitter.
And no, drinking a couple times a month isn't that bad for you...especially if you're burning a lot of calories....just make sure to drink water so you don't get dehydrated.

From what Ive read, drinking a lot also slows down your metabolism for a couple of days meaning that its harder to lose weight. It also decreases testosterone levels so your gains will be hurt for alittle while.
But every now and again isnt too bad. I used to drink heaps every weekend, now that I am cutting, I have stopped drinking.
I cant wait till i finish, so I can go and have a few pints with my mates. I hate going to the pub and drinking diet coke.

I have the problem of eating ****ty food when I get drunk. It's too common for me to say "lets go to jack in the box" when im wasted. Also, the next day I either am constantly hungry (a problem for those trying to cut) or else I just cant keep my food down (problems for those bulking obviously). So it just isnt worth it to drink.

personally, all nutrition aside, i dont like to drink just because it makes me feel like crap the next day, not so much worrying about the empty cals...last night i went out and drank sugar free red bulls at the bar...gets you wired a little bit and i had a great time for only 10 measly calories per can

Two quotations from the thread are:
"None of the carbs or cals are usable by your body. They all go to fat storage."
"This is the main problem, and it's not just with beer. it's alcohol in general. Your body can't process carbs/fats and alcohol at the same time, so it will process alcohol first, and while doing it encourages your system to turn the rest of the **** you have eaten into non-lean mass."
Very interesting stuff. It seems the second quotation kind of explains the first one. But does it so completly or are there other cases as well (non-alcoholrelated) where the carbs go directly into fat?5 8"

150 unuseable cals * 10 = 1500 essentially useless calories added to your diet; you are now intoxicated missing meals, eating pizza.Protein synthesys is now lowered by atleast 15%, you're dehydrated, and you're testosterone levels have lowered while estrogen has increased. You're not in a anabolic state. You wake up the next morning missing you're first 3 meals, you feel like ****; congrats you have just ****ed over you're body.
edit: yes this is ok a few times a month, but twice everyweekend will decrease you're gains significantly

[QUOTE=US_Ranger]Most beers have high fructose corn syrup in them. Try organic beer if you want one that doesn't have it.
Actually from my understanding beer uses Maltose as the sugar source in the fermentation process, Maltose is higher on the GI than table sugar, and so causes an even quicker and larger insulin dump when ingested.
