Is this a correct description of how these diets cause weight loss?
For diets ketogenic diets, because the liver has no carbs and glycogen stores are so low or empty, the body turns to burning dietary fat and body fat stores.
Low carb diets work because the small amount of carbs eaten during the day causes little to no insulin response where dietary fat doesn't get stored as body fat.
Low fat diet works because the small of amount of dietary fat eaten is used by the body as energy and isn't stored as body fat.

Ketogenic Diet:

The idea is to get into ketosis and have your body release ketones into the blood. The ketones cause your body to utilize stored fat for fuel.
Low carb diets do not work if you do not raise the amount of dietary fat or have a carb-up, such as the one for the keto diet.
IMO any balanced diet with good lifting and strict eating will result in good fat loss. I don't use keto diets because I feel tired during the week and I hate eating so many carbs on the weekends. I get great results from eating only clean foods in a specific amount.Panthers/Tar Heels/Hurricanes/Durham Bulls
