But the thing is, you're part of the problem yourself. In the beginning, you won't be able to resist showering your friends with cash. What fun is driving a Ferrari if your best friend is jealous? Buy him one too, then you can both go cruising! What fun is it to go to Vegas by yourself? So you fly out all your friends with you, you cruise the strip in a limo and you all stay in premium suites at the Bellagio.

But eventually, if you're smart, you'll realize that you can't keep spending like that forever. You'll invest some of it, hire a financial planner, and live off the interest of your investments. You'll reign in your spending, but your friends will still view you as a millionaire. While they're slaving away at their day jobs, you're doing ... pretty much whatever you want. They'll still expect you to pick up the tab whenever you go to a sporting event, restaurant, or bar. You'll eventually resent this.

Even those friends whom remain close to you, the ones who claim they still see you as just their friend, you'll still have that nagging suspicion in the back of your mind. You'll always wonder if they're thinking about your money, if they're expecting you to pay for the meal, or if they'll think you're a cheapskate if you don't. Your life is never the same again.

Now, all that comes with a lifetime of financial security, and all kinds of material possessions. I'm not saying it's all bad. Personally, I think I'd like a shot at balancing the lifestyle! I'm just saying it's naive to think that nothing will change, that your friends will be able to look past your money and still see you as their good friend. Because sadly, human nature will dictate otherwise.

Yes but your friends will be able to say "yeah i'm friends w/ John Smith." "He bought us all Ferarris and a Vacation to Vegas where we stayed at the Bellagio."

If I had a rich friend i'd be satified with that. its his money.

And when it comes to paying the bill for dinner....if I was the rich guy, I woldn't want my friends to pay for the dinner. I'd be a nice enough friend to know better. OMG a $185 bill for a steak dinner for three people. really, what is $185 to a millionarie, especially if you have hundreds of millions of dollars?

If all you care about is money then you will either be by yourself your entire life or among superficial friends. take your pick. Nobody will really give a **** about you, just your wealth.

See when a person gets older the less friends they have. People go their own ways, set new goals, new achievements, and lose touch with most of their friends. Most people by the time they're in their late 20's or early 30's will be lucky enough to have a handful of people they can actually call their friends. You may know lots of people but later on you figure out they're nothing more than acquatances.

When you get much older money starts to mean less and family starts to mean ALOT more

I would never stop working... I love it. I don't think you could truly be happy being rich and not working, if you work for it you will enjoy it more.

There is a quote on here somewhere a while ago, it was about weight lifting and was one of the truest most inspirational sayings, which I think applies to work aswell, it went something like...


Women cheat, friends turn their backs on you etc etc, it was pretty cool. It may have even been from Animal Pak.

Noone says you can't work when your rich. In fact if your rich your still in a better position to live a happy life by working. Because you'll be able to work in the environment that you want. Plus, you can be your own boss

Want to open up that fancy restaurant? no problem.

Want to have a wake board shop on the boardwalk? why not?

want to open up a chain of supermarkets? then go for it. You'd have all the money to pay for the property, building and advertising in cash if you wanted. Then, if the business flops, then you can close up shop and move on. You won't even have to worry about paying the bills because your rich. Its a win-win deal......if you have the money.

you can buy strength. Its called paying monthly/annual gym fees.

Of course you have to buy food too. (particularly meat)

you can kind of buy love too. just look at the last few years of Anna Nichole Smith's life living with that old man. Its obvious she didn't love him but as long as she played the part, why does he care? She payed the part until he died.

There are different kinds of strength. But even then the literal idea of strength cannot be bought. It is true that tools that can help someone gain strength can be bought, but the work must still be put in, and it is alot of work.

And if you want to get picky you really couldn't call that relationship love in a true sense because both probably knew it was only because of money. It was a fake concept of love. Money can only buy fake concepts of virtues because the true honing of yourself occurs inside, no outside thing can compete.

The truth is that money is important in today's age, but not as important in the long run as the things that can't be seen.

Money is important, but does not hold domain over everything.

Money solves everything. You can live wherever you want, drive nice cars, have a nice house, have hot broads hang all over you, buy all the food/supps you want, you dont hafto work, get a super fast computer to browse the misc,etc.

I live very comfortably but I'm not close to rich and I don't trust anyone but the 1 friend since elementary school and my family. Everyone in the world is out for themselves believe it or not.

Here's an attempt at a logical deduction that money does not equal everything and is not most important.

For money to be useful to you at all you have to know how to use it because that is what money is, a tool by which things can be gained through trade.

So you have to know how to use money, but you must know how to use it in a sense that the most can be gained for you through your transactions.

Knowing how to use money > money in itself.

But how do you know how the best way to use money as a tool for your gain? The answer is simple. You must know yourself. If you know yourself, you can use this knowledge to know how best to spend money in the application of knowing yourself.

In conclusion, then, we must know ourself truly to know how to use money in a sense for best profit before money can ever be considered a great tool for us.

Knowing yourself = knowing how money can be used for best profit > money

People that help others such as Cops, Doctors, Nurses, Fire Fighters, Military, etc they all get paid to do what they do.

I've read it. Its a good book too. But i'm not talking about doctors and entreprenuers who become millionaires, i'm talking about someone having at least 1/4 of a billion dollars (after taxes) to spend.

I don't think that money is everything but it is a lot, at least to me. I won't lie, I dream of having tons of money (multi-millionaire) so I can drive whatever car I want, work when I want to, have a beautiful home, and pretty much do whatever I want. Life has endless possiblities when you have money.

Dedicating yourself does not mean you can not make money. My sister sells real estate to pay for school. She is going to school for christian ministry to be a director of some sorts for inner city programs. She sincerely cares about other people but recognizes the need to make money in order to function in society. There is a gray area that most people live in. You should come on over, and get rid of your negative of everything.

I'm not insecure nor do I care about my importance in society. I personally am in love with MB and Benleys. I think that they are sick cars and I want one. They happen to be very expensive so I need to have a lot of money to get them. A lot of money also gives you so many options.

Let me ask you this, do you want to work the rest of your life? And do you realize how much of our lives we waste working? I would rather do more important things like enjoy life by being able to vacation any time I wanted.

Money is so important and I believe can make life far more rich and enjoyable.

And, indirectly, money can buy you love. If I was rich I could afford to socialise more often and in more suitable places and therefore meet more people, increasing my chances of finding "the one".

Also health = if I became ill I could afford more and better doctors/medication.
