DVD burning
Is there any way of getting around burning a DVD that is copyright protected?
I got DVDshrink 3.2 or something. I can burn almost all the older movies (2006 and older). But these new movies are getting harder to burn. Is there any software out there that can go around that stuff?

Is it a felony even if you already own the DVD and are just making backups?

If the MPAA gets their way, it will be. If the movie studios could find a way to charge you for *thinking* about a movie you've seen, they would.
I think "fair use" still allows for personal backups of movies you've purchased. Although, that is being contested and challenged in some court at the moment. Slashdot was covering it not too long ago.

I suggest DVD Decrypter if you want to rip DVDs on to your hard drive.

x2.
You'll need a piece of software that will be able to extract each individual VCO file. Doing so, you can take those individual files and merge them together with another piece of software.
I forget the names of these two programs (although I have them on my home computer) as I am at work.
You'd normally do the same thing to a DVD that you were trying to put on your IPOD due to copyright laws.
