L-Glutathione
My wife's sister is getting married in December. She wanted me to buy her some of this supp because she's heard that it lightens and clears up your skin. I was told that it's well known to do so in Asia.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Does it work? Are there any sides? Any info is appreciated.

You are referring to endogenous GHS.

If upregulating endogenous glutathione levels is the goal (as it is imperative to a healthy life).... look no further than NAC, K-R-ALA, silymarin, and maybe TUDCA if you have the money.

The negative impact of these endogenous processes can be significantly diminished via upregulated intracellular glutathione concentrations. Amongst many other benefits, supplemental nutrients can result in an enhancement of GSH (especially when combined with the other nutrients suggested herein). This will significantly diminish the frequency and severity of inflammational response, and all of it's symptoms.
In terms of the liver and GSH upregulation, hospitals around the world administer N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) on a daily basis. N-Acetyl-P-Benzoquinone Imine (NAPQI) is a cytotoxic P450-reactive metabolite that is formed in the liver, in the presence of an acetaminophen overdose. NAC is the thiol nutrient that is clinically chosen to detoxify NAPQI, and has been shown to upregulate total glutathione (up to 58%), and intracellular glutathione (up to 92%). The antioxidants clinically utilized to upregulate intracellular glutathione concentrations would include.... NAC, Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-ALA ), silymarin. Suppressing inflammational response

Oral glutathione will not get much further than enterocytes following ingestion.... which prevents any significant amounts from elevating plasma concentrations.
