    Deadlift Help

Okay, so i was deadlifting tonight, and i realize that i use a lot of back. i think if i used more legs i would be able to pull more.

THe only problem is that once i get up to a heavy weight near my max, my hips rise before my the bar begins to move, so that initiates alot of back involvement. I just have trouble keeping that bottom position when i start the deadlift. so i get very little leg drive.

Here's how my deadlift went tonight
    1x5 @135 Good Form
    1x3 @ 225 Good Form
    1x1 @ 275 Form is Decent
    1x1 @ 315 Still decent form
    1x1 @ 335 More Back involvement
1x0 @ 365 I may as well have tried to stiff legged it

SO any ideas on how i could get more leg drive in my deadlift, and tips for staying down in the bottom position when initiating the lift. I was thinking stregthen my hamstrings, and work on flexibility, but i wanna know what some of you think.

I've got the same problem bro. But I also have a 500 pound deadlift. I just keep adding weight. My back keeps getting stronger. Every once in a while I hit a good lift and actually feel my legs working as much as my back, but most of the time I end up doing a stiff legged deadlift.

To strengthen your legs in the deadlift try some raised Deadlifts of a small(but stable) platform. It brings more legs into the sequence of events and therefore will strengthen overall. Just my opinion mind, try em!...

do them on 3 or 4 mats thats tough
I've seen a 15 year old deadlift 440 lbs. first time ever touching a weight
I've witnessed a begginer increase there total 350 lbs. the first month
I myself can show you men bench pressing 821 lbs. men deadlifting nearly 940 lbs. men squatting 1104 lbs.

it doesn't make sense to continue moving up in weight in a movement if you can not maintain proper technique. Then the weight is simply too heavy. Sounds like your hip strength is lacking but you haven't mentioned what other work for your posterior chain you have been doing.
