    Do you actually need 200 grams of protein a day?

    I'm going to just eat pretty normal and not see how my progress is.

    Mostly just to stop my moms complaining.

    I will still eat above average amounts though. Probably over 150 grams per day.

    I may be able to get away with it becuase I gain fat very easily and I can't really eat very much in excess.

    I'm just tired of hearing it.

    I eat spinach, steel cut oats, bananas, fish oil/flax seed oil, and take a twice a day vitamin.

    I also use dextrose during my workout and after to hopefully absorb some more portein/

    I'm pretty sure its 1 gram per pound of lean bodymass my lbm is 148 so I try to get around 220-250

    im sure you will be fine man. I spend close to $200 a week on groceries eating like a madd man and some weeks i dont make that much money and I cut down on my eating a bit

    Whats your weight? I noticed that after I started taking protein taking a good 200-250g (I weight 256) would keep me from getting sore too much.

    Yeah I did that for a few months when I first started and gained around 6 pounds after about 7 months. Then I started eating seriously and gained 21lbs in 13 months.

    I'm 190 currently.

    I'll just try to eat as much as I can everyday.

    I notice I just started my 3 a day program and the soreness is gone after 48 hours so I imagine I am taking in enough.

    I eat like 40 grams of tuna a day, 40-50 in a protein shake, and probably 50 at dinner. Plus there is break feast and lunch around 50+ grams.


    Dam I am getting a lot. I must be eating like 300+ when I go on my protein binges lol. I might be eating 3000+ calories a day.

    I've never really got into counting what I eat. I just find that creates stress and takes away my focus.

    haha i feel you man. When I first started i was stressed about over every little thing that i could be doing wrong and i was actually loosing sleep over it! Stupid stuff at that. Now I just go with the flow but still stay strict in some aspects

    eesh, 18 grams? thats a bit excessive... past certain amounts it becomes counter productive... don't get me wrong omega 3's are great, but 18 caps? Most of the professionals on the boards that deal with the stuff (scivation, controlled labs) have always advised to keep the intake at around 5 grams i believe.

    Better getting in 20g of healthy fats, than 20g of **** fats such as trans fats throughout the day..

    Just have 3 or 4 caps with each meal.

    over doing omega 3's is actually terrible for your general health... its not natural to get so much. plus you can get fats through things like nuts, eggs, meat which is extremely healthy for you. And to get trans fats in your diet as a bodybuilder? I wouldn't call that a bodybuilders diet, cuz you'de find yourself sitting at mcdonalds a lot or at least eating some kind of pastry. Fishoil caps are great for you, but making them one of your main sources of fat isn't a well thought out idea.

    Look up omega 6 to omega 3 imbalances. I never said they are bad for you, infact i clearly stated they are good for you. Majority of americans have an imbalance of omega 3's to omega 6 fatty acids because diets usually lack omega 3's... to fix that they either eat more fish or supplement with around 1-3 grams (max) daily of omega 3 caps. Your doing the opposite... there needs to be balance.

    lots of people say you need over 200 grams of protein or 2x pwer bodywight.

    but personally 1 gram of protein for each lb you weigh is fine. i think the rest just is wasted personally... its not like your body stores protein.

    also, how much protein you use up depends on how hard, long you workout.

    Bench Press = 205 x 8
    Squat = 225 x 8
    Deadlift = 365 x 8
    Shoulder Press = 155 x 8

    Actually, your body does store protein. A process in which amino acids are converted to glucose .

    well. yea it stores it, but not for a long time like most nutrients, maybe 24 hours max, most is used, rest is waste in urine.

    I saw a study that showed that when omega 3's were taken in a certain dosage that they help lower insulin levels which helped reduce fat gains.

    I take 6 in the morning

    How bout you cut back on the fish oil caps and still avoid the trans. You make it seem like if you don't take 20 caps you gotta make up for it with trans fat. There are other sources of healthy fats.
