    SHould I starve myself ??

    Hi,

Does it make sense for me to starve myself and try to lose most bodyfat ?

Then gain weight in the form of muscle, by working out and eating low carb, low fat, high protein food.

    This seems logical to me.

I started working out about 2 mths ago. My progress have been slow when it comes to losing the fat on my abdomen. The rest of my body (arms, calves) are coming along really nice.

Except I can't lose that abs fat. Apparently, doing crunches don't burn those fat or turn those fats into muscles.
So I really cant figure out how to lose it !!!

    HELP !!!!

    NO!

    Cissy-

Trust me- take it from an ex anorexic/bulimic.... starving makes you get fatter in the end and it will eventually make your body hoarde fat and weight and it totally messes your metabolism and system up for life!

It seems the best thing to do is get to a good target weight by cutting down on carbs and upping your protien intake and starting a good workout regimen of cardio and weights. I'm right there with ya on this goal... so I can totally feel your frustration!

As far as fat on the abs goes... mostly those fat spots are genetic and there is nothing you can do to a certian degree about them except get liposuction. You can build your abs, though I am even trying to find the best ab workout as I feel you on the fact that those zillions of crunches seem to do nuthin! Actually there is a user on here named ScorpioGurl who has great abs... maybe she can tell us what she does to get them looking good!

Have you tried an ECA stack at all to burn fat? That is working well for me and I have been doing it for 8 weeks.

I am sort of new here as well, but reading thru the forums has helped me out and I have learned a lot.

It seems this Keto diet works well for a lot of people to cut fat and retain muscle. Member Blindfaith has written a great article about the Keto diet.

Once again tho it seems to come down to upping that cardio, incorporating weights, cutting carbs (which I know is hard for us ladies sometimes!) and increasing protien.

Let us know how you do

When you cut your calories too low, your body believes it is in starvation. In order to protect vital systems, it slows down metabolic processes. More calories are stored as fat and less are used for energy. The most sensible way to eat is 5-6 mini meals a day spaced 2-3 hours apart. This will stimulate the thyroid gland and keep your metabolism steady. Not to mention keeping insulin levels from crashing.
I agree with a low carb diet and plenty of protein. When you do eat carbs, eat those that are low on the glycemic index. They have the least effect on insulin production. Keeping insulin levels controlled is vital for weight loss since insulin is the fat storing hormone of your body.
    Hope this helps.

God no, if anything, from starving yourself, you will gain fat and lose your muscle. Please don't

    Thanks !

I will not starve myself. Doesnt make sense since I really am at my right weight.

I had liposuction last week to remove those pouches of fat. Now that I'm rid of them, I won't turn anorexic over it

    Thanks god !!

I can now do my abdominal exercises and weights with more motivation !
