I play lacrosse and I have had a bad confidence issue for several years now.
I practice really well at home in my backyard and in casual play settings, but when I get to
team practices or games, I completely fall apart. I find that I am unable to do things that I
practice regularly at home and know I can do with ease, and I tend to just pass the ball off to someone else rather than taking it myself, even if I'm more capable than the other guy.
It's gotten really frustrating and I've been pegged as one of the worst players on the team
simply because I just can't do anything, because I have no confidence in myself on the field. It's a shame because I know, and some others know, that I am much better than I show in games and practices. I was one of the best players on my youth team about 5 or 6 years ago and had a bright future in the sport, but something went wrong and now my team mates on that team are doing much better than me. I'm desperate for some help and if anyone knows any good sports psychologists or techniques that can help please let me know.
