Of course. As a proud graduate, I never have any other answer.
In all honesty, my initial thoughts, had I posted them, would probably have resulted in my being banned.

Let's give credit where credit is due. Appalachian State is one heck of a good football team...in any division.

I agree that they are a GREAT team. If the institution met certain requirements, they would surely be a strong D1 team.
Still kinda embarrassing for Michigan though... although they turned down other games this year that made me wonder a bit if they were expecting a tough start.

that is the great thing about college football. it is played by kids with great emotion, most just for the love of the game. upsets happen all the time for these reasons. on any given saturday the little guys may just play there hearts out and beat the big guys. last year my bulldogs lost to vandy and kentucky back to back then knocked off 3 ranked teams in a row. i fear everytime we play a division 2 team. we seem to have a let down and they play wide open with nothing to lose.

That happens with us too, tat.
My brother-in-law is a big Michigan fan. Now, I do not say anything ugly about Michigan to him, but he loves to just bother me all the time about how bad the Gamecocks are and even called to tell me were playing a powderpuff team for the first game (Louisiana Layfayette). So, I look up who Michigan is playing and see they're playing Appalachian State. I figured Michigan would win and didn't say a word to him anyway -- because I don't like to dog other people's teams. I still haven't said anything, but I can't say that a little smile didn't creep across my face when I saw that score.

all of our teams have been beat by far lesser teams especially rivals at one time or another. on the other hand they have all stepped up and beat teams ranked way above them also. that is why i love college and don't really care for pro's.

Me too! I pull for the Steelers, but definitely do not feel the passion for pro football like I do college. I think college football is so much more fun/exciting to watch!

That's what I love about college ball, because to me, it is a metaphor for life. A lesser team can beat a superior team if they want it bad enough and if the coach lifts their spirits enough to where they know they can. I relate it to in the gym and especially working with people. Encouragement, even if it is gentle pat on the back to say, "You can do it," or "Good job," goes a long way to the success of a team or a company.

Now maybe everyone will forget that BSU beat OU, right Just Tryin?
App State are the defending national champs in 1-aa I believe. They are no creampuff.

Nope -- but they really need to learn to have more fun in Boone. It's a dry county.

Hat is off to the Mountaineers! This is the first time a division I-AA school has ever beaten a top 25 ranked team. The disparity in funding and scholarships is enormous. From the Ann Arbor News:
"They have only 63 scholarships (Michigan has 22 more), a football budget less than a quarter of Michigan's, nary a Parade All-American on the roster (Michigan has 10) and were outweighed by an average of 23 pounds on the offensive and defensive lines"....The Ann Arbor News
Go Mountaineers

I send tuition money to Michigan (grandson) so they have become my 2nd team to watch....USC Trojans come first. Michigan's defence SUCKS. I can't stand the coach. Those Mountain men were simply great.
USC was flat footed and vanilla last night. Good grief. Even the fans were bored stiff. Yawn. Deepest team ever assembled in college history and they sat there reading their press clippings. Yawn.
Sorry NM123....the Trojans will awaken in two weeks. Bring bandages.

Well, my alma mater (William and Mary) had the quarterback toss 450 yards, and lose 49-31.
They gave up 240 yards and 7 td's to the Delaware running back, tied a record.

good win for app state, bad loss for michigan.
here's the thing tho, app state will have to settle for this as their biggest win.
yes, i know they are in a "modified subdivision" formerly known as 1-aa, but my point is that the the little guys will never get a shot at being #1.
bosie state was the only undefeated team in the land last season, wins their bowl game with flare but was never ever gonna get a shot at the title game and being the nation's best.
michigan can still salvage their season (tho i know it goes way beyond just this last fiasco), but for app state this was the biggest win for them and they'll have to settle for a "w" in the history books.
damn bcs.

Usually, anytime Michigan loses, I am happy, but this time I feel for you guys, to be out of the national title after the first game has got to hurt.
Now, if your AD was as smart as ours (spartan), you would have scheduled a powder puff like UAB for your first game.
Now we have; Bowling Green, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame
You have; Oregon and Notre Dame.
If you want to have a preseason that helps the team get it together, you have to go easy and build up to the season.
Of course it never helps us, but it is a plan that makes sense.

I'm a little sorry to see Mich lose because that takes the luster off when we thump their butt in Ann Arbor this year.

Wow Red, after going through that test earlier this week and then to have to endure this humiliation, how much more can one man take?
