I did three sets of deads for the first time the other day and ended with 135lbs. I know, I know, not much weight but it was my first attempt. Now I know I could go much heavier, but for the first time I would have expected to be sore somewhat. What am I doing wrong?

The most likely reason you aren't sore is because you were using too light a weight. But it is a great idea to start off doing more complex exercises like deadlifts with a light weight so you can get your form perfect first and avoid potential injury.
Also, i wouldn't judge the success of a workout on how sore you are the next day. Its all about progression.

dont increase the weight to try to get sore - u can increase pretty fast at first, but take it easy and learn leet form so u become a mast0r!111one

Stick with the right form, if you have to use low weight - do it until you got perfect form. You'll be ok.
