    Question Fast Food

I am curious as to what fast food is ok to eat. I try and bring my lunch to work with me everyday, but I don't always get my bum moving early enough to bring everything I need. I have meal replacements here, both bars and shakes, but I am wanting something more substantial.

Is there a chicken sandwhich and/or salad combo somewhere that will help me stick to my 55% Protein/30% Carb/15% Fat diet?

    6" Double Turkey on Wheat
    No Mayo or Cheese
lots of Mustard, Lettuce, Onion, hot pepper rings

I ask them to cut it in half, then I take half the bread & toss it, put my meat & veggies on half of bread that is left. I call it a 3" Double Decker Turkey

There are always options... Things like:
    - Sushi/sushimi

    - Steamed vegetables and seafood from Thai places

    - Corner stores/supermarkets have packets of tuna, fruit (apples) and cartons of skim milk

    - Sandwich bars allow you to make your own sandwiches. So get a wholegrain or rye sandwich with tuna, chicken or salmon with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, mushrooms and sprouts. Ask for a double serve of chicken and LOTS of the salad ingredients and, if you want, only eat 1/2 the bread.

    - Go to a juice bar and get a protein smoothie (these are all over the place)

    - Go to a health food store and pick up some mixed nuts and a pre-made ready to drink protein drink.

    - There are nearly ALWAYS salad bars to be found in food halls - places where you can create your own salads - so just eat at these places.

These are just off the top of my head.. I am sure there are more things available.

I usually get a garden salad with grilled chicken on it from Burger King, and take the nasty cheese off (I still have no idea what it is). I'm really not a fast food person cause I worked at McDonald's all through high school. Scary stuff!

I think the grilled chicken sandwhiches aren't too bad, just don't get the mayo on it. A lot of places are really trying to offer healthier foods, especially Wendy's. Now you can get a combo with either a side salad or baked potato and a bottle of water instead of the typical fries and soda.

I love it, now I can get the option of orange juice and applesauce with a kids meal, instead of soda and fries at most places. And mcdonalds had a pretty decent chicken sandwhich on whole wheat bun (probably not much 'whole' wheat but they are trying)

And I liked burger kings veggie burger (although it didn't get a good reveiw from one site I checked out that rates veggie food)

I keep telling my husband I want to start a fast food health food place...man where is the half million dollars in start up costs when I need it

I think you guys in California are a little bit ahead of us on the east coast when it comes to healthier foods. Over here Burger King never had a veggie burger and McDonald's doesn't have whole wheat buns! They do have the choices with the kids meals, like getting apples instead of fries. But out here Wendy's is really the only one doing that stuff and going all out.

^ Really? That's awful. Even in the UK Burger King has a Veggie burger and a vegetarian beanburger. And I thought vegetarians don't have enough options around here.

Vegetarians have no options around here. The upside is that my kids have therefore have no interest in any fast food except pizza!

^ I am shocked! Lol! I live in the countryside and I thought we were more behind the times than anyone. My only problem is that most pub-style restaurants only have one vegetarian choice, which is invariably pasta, and assume that you love mushrooms (the one vegetable I can't stand). Fast food places have more choice (apart from KFC, where I just have fries and beans!)

If you are too lazy in the morning then pack your meals the night before. Put everything in a bag and just bring it to work. Simple as that. If you cannot do that then your being lazy.

if your going to eat fast food....go online first and get the nutrition facts...even a lot of the salads have a lot of fat and hidden cals. and just something to add.....

ive learned in one of my classes that subways wheat bread is white bread dyed brown. i havent gotten the chance to research it yet but since i heard ive stayed far away from subway. if you ask me there all S*it and your better off eating the paper bag it comes in.
