Just got waxed for the first time.......

It was only the back of my neck (it's always been very hairy) but it hurt like hell. Only when it was ripped though. Got it done this morning and already there's no redness or pain or anything. Feels great actually.

It's already made me feel a lot better about myself just because I've always hated that hair back there.

I have an appointment next Wednesday to get my back and chest done.........wish me luck!

    Little red bumps

Dude, I get these little red bumps all over my chest when I get it waxed but not so bad on my arms. They make me afraid to do the rest of my body even though I have to for my first competition. If you've got any advice about this or anyone else out there does let me know cause they last for like a week and they are annoying and ugly.

    Irritated skin?

What kind of lotion do you apply to your body?

    Do you apply daily?

Stomach, back, ass are all fine, but getting my chest waxed was the most intense pain I have ever felt!
I will NEVER do that again.
Dont worry too much about the red bumps (irritated hair follicals). They will disappear in a few days.

I have to agree that the chest waxing hurts like hell. I'm considering trying NAIR or maybe even looking into laser this year.

My doctor told me that he will give me a couple days of antibiotics to take if I get waxed this year and it will prevent the bumps/pimples I got last time.

What is the price range of laser hari removal, i mean i have waxed, shaved, naired ... i never want to wax again. I was just wondering if Laser should even be considered. Anyone know the method that most Pro's use and how they keep the damn hair off!!

I have a pretty good coat of dark thick hair, and this is what I've tried with the results:
shaving: make sure to go WITH the grain, it doesn't shave as close and you have to shave almost every friggin day, but if you go against you WILL get ingrown hairs. Annoying, unsightly and can leave little scars.

Nair: does a piss-poor job. Shaving is better. It leaves stubble just like shaving. Make sure NOT to get this crap on your nipples! It will burn them leaving little scabs. It will hurt for about a week.

Waxing: VERY painful on the chest. Doesn't always get all the hairs. When you get it just right you can be hairless and smooth for weeks. Usually there are some hairs that break off instead of pulling out from the roots so you may still have stubble. I have done it myself and had it done at a salon. At the salon the lady had the wax too hot and I actually got a first degree burn on my back before she realized. I just do it myself now. I use Nair brand microwave wax, but I don't bother to microwave it. It seems to work fine at room temperature. If you have thin hairs waxing is probably the way to go. If you have some prescription painkillers available I would consider using them for the chest. I won't wax without it. I do get some ingrown hairs with waxing.

Hair Laser: I paid about $1800 for 5 treatments of my back and it seemed to get about 80% of the hairs. I had BAD acne for weeks after each treatment. I had no scarring. This is more painful than waxing. EXTREMELY painful. Your doctor should provide you with a topical anesthetic cream to apply before treatment. Lather that stuff on thick and then cover it with saran wrap so it won't evaporate and don't take it off until they are about to begin. I would also hit the prescription painkillers if they are available. This is VERY painful. You will have burns and scabs afterwards for a few days so plan in advance. You won't want to hit the beach the day after a laser treatment. I had regrowth but then I may have just grown new hair because I am getting older. If it ever gets cheaper I may do it again.

Good luck. Beauty hurts. Choose your pain.
