Trapz, u got everything u need there to pack on some nice muscle. Don't be fooled by the variety of the fancy equipment in most gyms..........so what's ur prob? U can bench, u can squat, u can deadlift, u can curl, u can press, u can row ur arse off......
Squatting is about the only thing that I can see might be a small pain, cuz u'd have to use the bench racks......but other than that I don't see why u need to rush off and join a gym.
Yeah, its squats thats a problem. It was sweet in the begining when i used to only squat around 40 kgs, but now, squating 80 kgs without a rack is fatal!! But i go once a week to the gym on my leg day now so there isnt really a problem. The only thing is that a few friends were telling me that id be better of selling the stuff and joining the gym, so i wanted some second opinions......
Well as I said, whats the point? U got everything u need, plus if u go to a gym on leg days, then i don't see a prob.
Also, the equipment u have is for life. If u sold it now, sure, u'd get a few bucks and maybe be able to afford a gym membership......but what do u do when the membership expires?? U gotta find more money to renew it. Think about the long term as well as the pros/cons of working at home or in a gym.
Good point. I was considering that before as well.
Yeah, il stick with my equipment. Thanks for the advice.
By the way, what do you think of the price? I got it sec/hand for $500 NZ, thats around $250 US. What do you think, was it a good deal?
Thats a bargan ...
Maybe you can have 2 stands put in the wall for the bar for squating .. they will need to be arched with a curve so the weight can sit on it ...
NEVER get rid of a good home setup.
1. It is always open
2. There's not some pansy on it curling 45 lbs and in your way
3. You can't use the "I was too busy to make it to the gym" excuse
Trust me, every time I've dumped a good set up "cause I go to the gym anyway", I've regretted it.
As you get older and go to college, you can take it with you as it is nice and compact.
When you graduate and are working 50-60 hours per week that first year on the job, No excuse for not getting SOME KIND of a workout in.
Keep it, use it, trust me, you'll be happy you did.

I wanted your opinion on wether this equipment is enough or am i better off selling it and using the money on a gym membership.
thanx
Trapz-
our setup is quite similar. i'm sort of a loner about working out so personally, i would be adding more things to your home gym before going out and getting a membership. the only time i need help once in a while is when i'm doing my first (and heaviest) set bench pressing. this is when i call my wife into the garage to spot me and she rolls her eyes and bitches about how she "better not break a nail". LOL. i can't wait till my kid hits his teens!
i'm looking into a squat rack. Have you considered this as well?
