I would really recommend going to a doctor if you suffer from depression. It's not something to F#$k around with. There are "mood enhancers" like Controlled Labs Yellow nEuphoria, but again, I'd strongly recommend going to a doctor.

    Not technically.

You could try St johns wort though...but if you think your depressed, you should be talking to a doc.

I wouldn't advise self-medicating a serious illness. Have you been diagnosed with clinical depression?

If you are in school, the student center should be able to help you out. If you are not in school, any walk in clinic can give you some samples.

well the reason why we ask is because sometimes we meet people who like to get high and or look for a cheap alternative high even if they dont consider themselves druggies sometimes saying "not a druggie or junkie" is just an excuse you understand

if you feel you have periods of time where your mood is just shot and are depressed for a very long period of time or feel like you cant go out in public or it makes you shake just thinking aobut being around people, well its usually better to see a doctor, heck as some of the other members mentioned there are clinics that you can go to for assistance

there are over the counter items that people normally use for a sense of well being they are nothing major though , st johns worth, 5-htp, rhodax, blue lotus etc it might be a bit better to check a doc first you know just to be safe

Depression can be serious if untreated. Everything can be "potentially" serious if you want to be technical.

Yeah, no use arguing over semantics and which prepositional phrases envy used here... it could be a problem if it's not attended to. Envy presented excellent advice - nip this in the bud before it blossoms into a nasty **** flower. Simple!

I had a **** storm of "emotional" problems stemmed from my childhood and blossoming during my teen years. I was fortunate enough to work my way out of things, but I was prescribed a few different antidepressants which actually escalated matters and made me disgustingly comfortable with my newfound suicidal tendencies.

Long story short, I dealt with my **** before it became a humongous **** smear... it may not turn into a big problem for you, and it could just be a little bit of blues... but what if you don't deal with your skeletons and they manifest into something a lot more aggressive. It could seriously interfere with your quality of life and it's much better to attend to these matters before they ARE a problem.

Sorry for the ****-analogies... just watched Trailer Park Boys on HBO... but anyway, I hate using the term "depression" and labeling symptoms, but whichever problems have been pestering you, it's better to deal with them as opposed to seeking out chemical assistance. I personally think that doctors are too quick to prescribe antidepressants to begin with, but these are matters that should be discussed with a professional first and foremost.

In my humble opinion, I think that dealing with these problems both by yourself and with support from friends and family would be a great option to begin exploring. When you become more familiar about your feelings and cognizant about your response to them, things become a lot more clear and it's easier to remain grounded. If you stumble around and leave problems unattended, it'll come back at you sooner or later and you may not have the integrity and perseverance to deal with them at the time. It can be tricky business and sort of a catch 22.

Nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck. Just make sure that you explore some sort of viable option. I discourage immediately seeking chemical assistance both due to my own personal experiences and research on the matter. Just stay focused, tie up loose ends and don't be afraid to take care of this. There is no shame whatsoever... people aren't typically "taught" these lessons, so keep an open mind and stay positive.

I don't feel that being medicated by a doctor is always the best answer, but I do not feel that diagnosing yourself with an illness without checking with a doctor is wise. The OP never went to a doctor but he is asking for OTC anti-depressants. That really makes no sense to me at all.

    Yes I agree.

If you don't like the idea of being put on drugs get a referral to a psychologist not a psychiatrist, and explain that you would like to take avenues other than chemical treatments.

Do you tell these people you see that most anti depressant medications (eg SSRIs) don't give you a "high".

Most of the advice in this thread is very good. Talk to your doctor, or goto a free clinic. I wouldn't try self-medicating for something like a possible depression as there are too many factors to put into place for you to figure out (thats why there are people specifically qualified for this kinda stuff). Good Luck

lookin' for medicine to overcome things everytime you feel down is a dangerous path.. However, if you are in fact diagnosed by a doctor, then by all means, use whatever he prescribes.. I understand that money might be an issue, but depression is such a potentially huge issue, I think you should save up whatever you have and go as soon as you can.
