Lou Ferrigno
Its a shame he never one an Olympia. He wouldve been a huge force if he would have been born in this generation of body building. He would've had plenty of O's to be proud of.

Reality? All that separated Lou from taking a Sandow from Arnold Schwarzenegger or Dorian Yates was Lou could not pack on an additional twenty five pounds of muscle, come in onstage at 6'5", 325lbs., that's it. Lou's muscle maturity maybe was an issue against Arnold Schwarzenegger, but in the 1990's, Lou vs. Dorian Yates, I'm telling you about twenty five more pounds on Louie maybe fifty pounds, heck Lou is 6'5" was 1990's IFBB pro, what did Lou weigh during 1994? Olympia 275lbs. onstage? Lou should have come in, off the spaceship at 325lbs. I don't know what where Lou's competition planning was, what year was that I know it was Lou's 1990's comeback? and would have even left Paul Dillet gawking. For the record, I believe Dorian could have spared a Sandow to Lou. On a related sidenote, my college training partner from back during the mid-1990's actually has a somewhat reserved opinion of Dorian Yates' and ifbb bodybuilders of the 1990's physiques, what was my training partners' quote made over bottles of red dog beer pertaining to 1990's ifbb pros? "look at those 'roidguts on them sticking out!?" --I was thinking that, my training partner only verbalized it!

i dunno man, i think even at this weight (about 310) he looks like hes struggling with the gut. more would finish him completely. dorians gut was there only when he wasnt tense but when he tensed he still had v tight midsection.

Its a shame, that he stopped competing, after Arnold retired. I watched this video (below) and I kind of felt bad for the guy. But you have to give him credit for coming back at 41 years old and competing.

Lou's time period is not to blame. Lou is to blame. Every great champion has a great champion before them. Lou's was Arnold. Arnolds was Sergio. Jays was Ronnie, Dorians was Lee. You have to put in your time. Lou left bodybuilding to try and become an actor and failed at it. If Lou would not have been stupid and left bodybuilding when he did, he had the potential to be reguarded as the greatest of all time, because he could have took every Sandow from 1976 until Lee Haney. Even Arnold would have not had anything for him at the 1980 Olympia. The guy was the only bodybuilder who was able to progress from golden era physic to a more modern day mass monster one. If not for his own stupid mistakes, he could have been the greatest. He's no one to blame but himself.

he is too tall. standing next to arnold or yates or whoever at even 300lbs peeled he still will look off. obviously i have tremenodous respect for the guy, but he's not a top 5 guy in the 90's. guys like levrone, ray blow him away let alone yates and nasser and the mass monsters. i don't think he would have been top 5 in the 70's if there was a better playing field.

Lou was able to look massive and symetrical even at his extreme height. I tend to disagree with you about the 70's. I think he could have dominated the sport until Lee Haney came along. And he may have been so massive at that point it may have taken Lee a year or two to overthrow him.

Lou will be here in Atlanta this Late August and I was going to get a video tape of me asking him to take a picture using my camera. Ya'll know what his reply would be. That video was going to be classic! CLASSIC I SAY!
But now that he's in the hulk movie he's going to have a **** load of people at his booth during dragon con and I'm not standing in a line for that. He ain't WOLF!
For the last 5 years Lou barely had a soul at his booth but now he's going to be swamped. I'm happy for him but I'm mad too because I won't be able to follow through with my original plans.

I live in Georgia too. I may go to Dragon Con too, we'll see.
I think the reason Lou never won an Olympia is because he's "imperfect." Mr. Olympia is supposed to the ideal body builder and spokesman for body building. I think the judges and the Weider brothers did not want someone who is partially deaf to be the icon of body building.
Personally, I think he got a raw deal. Being part Italian, Lou has always been a hero for me. I think he should've stuck in Body Building a bit longer. Maybe he could've got some Sandows.... I don't know. A lot of politics in BBing from the looks of it, but what do I know? I'm an 'arm-chair expert.'

Dude he was a baby. He was only 22. He wasnt ready for the win yet he had more size and polish to get. He only competed in 2 Mr Olympia's before he retired (Not counting the masters Olympia he did later). When it came to the masters Olympia he just couldnt compared to his competition. Robby Robbinson (Someone who actually never got the credit he deserved) was ripped to shreds.
