I went to get a massage today, and it was 90 minutes of heaven my friends. The guy asked me where I was hurting, did I want him to work on anything special, etc. I told him no, it was my birthday and I was just doing this to relax as a little present to myself. So he causually says happy birthday and asked how old I was. I told him (53) and he said sh*t your in good shape, you must work out. I said a little bit. I know by most peoples standards, myself included, I am a "slim" guy and I have no illutions of winning the Mr. Olypmia title anytime soon (or anytime ever!) but it does feel good to know that all this work does not go unnoticed. In fact it inspires me to work a little harder. Do you guys (generic) feel this way or is it just me being egocentric? I mean everyone enjoys a little stroke now and then right?

Wow! I didn't see that coming! I guess I should have added (no homo) My regular masseuse is a woman, but was not available today and the other women on staff could not do 90 mins. I have to admit the very first time having a male masseuse was weird as I was molested as a child and had some "issues", but there is nothing sexual about a therapeutic massage. Kinda sorry I posted this now.

LnH, glad to hear that you are getting compliments on your physique..that is awesome.

Also, I don't see how being uncomfortable with being massaged by a man, erotic or otherwise, smacks of homophobia. It is just a matter of preference, comfort level, and maybe culture and upbringing.

That being said, the worst massage I ever had was by a man. Not because of his gender, but because he wasn't strong enough. There was this one woman in Sacramento, at the Hyatt there should you be going that way, that massaged me like I had stolen from her. She was awesome...but I digress.

Let me add some more flame to it. This will piss of the gal LMT's for sure! I've been getting massages for close to 30 yrs now, and every time I've had one from a woman, and here it goes, it was foo foo and fluf fluf, not deep enough, hard enough and never quite did the job!

I get 1 to 3 massages a week now. Doug and Uri. Two of the best LTM's ever had treat me.

Men who will only get massages from women are more into the fantasy and idea of having a woman legally touch them and getting away with it, AND that is PERFECTLY FINE! Be caressed and fluffed by a women.

My best friend who is like a brother, also gets massages regularly, and like many here, he says he can't have a guy massage him, yet what he really is saying, he's turned on by the woman and likes the idea of a woman touching him. It's more sexual for him and he at least is man enough to admit it.

YET, if you really want some good therapeutic massage, get a man. They have the strength and size to get the job done!

Well, I have heard this complaint about women therapists, so I'm not offended - but can honestly say it has never been said of me. If a client lets me know they want deep work they get deep.

If they are foolish enough to say "you can't go too deep" or "don't worry about hurting me" - I make a point of demonstrating that machismo has no place on my table.

I can do lighter massage, and adjust my level of pressure, but enjoy doing deeper work, because I like to actually feel the muscles and knots release. Most women underestimate their strength, or are afraid to use it. I don't have that problem. I'll climb up on the table and get my elbow in your shoulder - if that's what's needed.

But I also do get comments that my style is still different from many men who do deep work - in that I spend a little more time warming up an area before going deep into it. Only makes sense to me - if you just use force, you will break what can bend with a little finessing before you push.

The important thing is to ask a lot of questions from your therapist, and be sure they can do the kind of work you personally need.

I respectfully disagree Supe. Call me goofy but I feel more comfortable in medical/therapeutic environments with a female caregiver than a male. My personal Dr. is female and my physical therapist is a female. It is for sure not sexual with either of these women.

I imagine there are guys who like massages from gals for the reasons you mentioned, and trust me, I do enjoy massages from my wife which are therapeutic on an entirely different scale.

I'm glad you spoke up cause you are the professional here on this and somehow I thought you could justify what I said, far as I see it, certainly not the whole world! When I travel I experiment with all kinds of Message therapies from all kinds of raps with foils, pasts, mud and god now what! I really enjoy them, in fact I think I've enjoyed all my massages, just when I want it to be deep and hard, no mater how the lady promises to do deep, she fails every time to meet my satisfaction.

My wife and I had a joint massage in a hot springs resort about 6 months ago. It was our first ever. The LMTs were both women. The one who did me was "stockier." She got as deep as I'd care for.

There are two kinds of massage therapists - good ones and not so good ones. Male or female, they are giving you a massage, and both sexes have the necessary equipment (hands) to do it. I am surprised that, in this day and age, people still giggle like little schoolgirls when massage is mentioned.

OK, lecture over. Having said that, the best MT I ever had was a woman who was about 90 lbs. soaking wet and was so talented I felt like Rubberman for days afterwards. Needless to say, people were begging for an appointment with her.

I've had many massages in my short life too.
I didn't give a rats about the gender.....what I cared about is how strong are you to dig in and get things well massaged.

A couple were by a woman and I concur with OS.
My experience was the women just weren't strong enough for me.
I remember one woman in particular (about 4 years ago) just kind of went through the motions of a massage but I didn't feel like I really got one.

You feel that way Ed only because you never encountered a woman like me. As a bodybuilding amazon I don't have any problem with strength or size. But women like myself are rare so I can see why you have never experienced a good message from a woman............only because you never had it from a strong woman like myself.
